Printing horizontal overhangs without the need for supports using Conical Slicing ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Yesterday I was in Switzerland๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ญto visit @mwuethri with his RotBot, a Prusa Mk3 with a 4th, rotational axis. Mesmerizing to watch and I had some super interesting conversations. Look forward to some non-planar goodness and conical slicing!

Is finally done! 6 days, 8 different colors, 2kg of filament and a beautiful Majora's Mask ๐Ÿ˜ I'll assemble it in the next few days! Thanks to @3DPrintDogs for the amazing model.

Conical Slicing let's you print horizontal overhangs without supports. A bit more on that in tomorrows video!

130h into the 120h print (yeah, print time estimation was a bit off) We are on the home stretch now with only 4 more hours to go! We've already done 2800 flawless filament changes and I can't wait to get it out of the machine and assemble it!

14h in printing the big N64 logo on the @Prusa3D XL. So far it's looking really good with no wasted material for purging or wiping ๐Ÿ’ช

Even though this machine financially makes barely any sense, it brings me so much joy recycling all of my 3D printing waste! And isn't joy what hobbies are all about?

Look what I just discovered when I took a closer look at one of the Bambu Lab H2D Bowden tubes. This one doesn't have a standard circular opening but a star-shaped one, probably to reduce friction from less PTFE contacting the filament. Seems really clever! What do you think?

110h into the 120h print. Not only have I never printed so long, I also wouldn't have expected that 3000 filament changes worked so flawlessly! Unfortunately, the purge poop pile is also massive now! Let's hope everything goes smoothly until tomorrow.

Oh look who just knocked on my door.
