Peter Higgs (1929-2024) played a major role in the motivation for the LHC, @CMSExperiment and @ATLASexperiment. The discovery of the #Higgs boson in 2012 laid the groundwork for a completely new area of physics studies. The CMS collaboration will be forever grateful. @CERN

For the first time the CMS Collaboration demonstrates evidence that top quarks are produced in nucleus-nucleus collisions! Read more how the top quark interacts with the heavy metal 🎸💥🎸 of the lead-lead collisions in this CMS physics briefing: ➡️ cms.cern/news/heavy-met…

Quarks and electrons (and their siblings) are fundamental particles⚛️, meaning to our current best knowledge they cannot be split further. But what if we are wrong, and quarks are composite, so made of other undiscovered particles 🎊🎊? Read more: cms.cern/news/getting-e…

The Higgs particle is the result of the Higgs field. But how could we check that? This new CMS paper takes the next step towards measuring the Higgs field: searching for the production of not one but two 🔗 Higgs particles simultaneously! 🤯 Read more ➡️ cms.cern/news/how-does-…

🔗 Top quark and top antiquark entanglement 🔗 The CMS experiment has just reported the observation and confirms the existence of entanglement between the top quark and its antiparticle beyond reasonable doubt. Find out more here: cms.cern/news/entangled… #Moriond #CERN

CMS is undergoing massive upgrades in the next two years. In addition to maintenance and the detector upgrades for Run 3, CMS is already preparing for the 10x increase in collision rate coming in the future with the High-Luminosity LHC: cerncourier.com/cms-has-high-l…

The Higgs boson has come a long way since its discovery in 2012. The CMS Collaboration now has about 400 Higgs bosons in the Golden four-lepton channel (2012:only 10). We use these to measure the different ways the Higgs is produced! Read more: cms.cern/news/using-gol… #LHCP2021

We have the first high-energy collisions with stable beams in 2025! The LHC has started back up to continue Run 3 after the winter break - and the first collisions at 13.6 TeV have just happened! Here is a beautiful event display showing one of these first collisions. @CERN
