- The Grapevine remains closed at this time. There is no estimated time for how long the closure will be in place. Caltrans District 7 is working hard on clearing the snow and ice from the roadway.
- The Grapevine is now open with CHP units from the Fort Tejon and Newhall areas conducting escorts up and over the Grapevine. The roadway is still wet and slick, so stay in line and follow behind traffic at a safe distance. Please don’t drive reckless by speeding.
- Due to the continuous snow and ice the Grapevine will remain closed through tonight into tomorrow morning. CHP is planning on reopening the Grapevine tomorrow at 11:00 am. Crews will be working through the night and into tomorrow morning in preparation for the reopening.
- We are currently holding traffic for the #Grapevine area of I-5 in Castaic (northbound) and Grapvine Road (southbound) and escorting the residual traffic through to the other side.
- Mostly all snow cleared over the #Grapevine. Last night, roadway temperatures dropped into the single digits causing miles of roadway to freeze. Caltrans has been working tirelessly to thaw the ice and make the roadway safe. We will then escort traffic as a safe speed.
- The #Grapevine area of Interstate 5 is still open. Reminder: Parking on the freeway is dangerous, illegal and will be strictly enforced.
- If you were wondering about the weather conditions on the Grapevine this morning, here is a picture. I think it's worth at least a 1000 words. Safe travels.
- The Grapevine is closed. I-5 northbound and southbound will be closed at this time due to snow and ice. CHP and CalTrans are working to get the roadways in a condition to allow for escorted traffic. Please avoid the area and take alternate routes. Updates to follow.
- We have now begun escorting north and southbound I-5 traffic. Drive safely and patiently, continuing to watch your speed and following distances.
- The storm is hitting the Grapevine with rain mixed with snow. I cannot stress enough the importance to slow down and not speed in these conditions. Speeding plus wet roadway can lead to hydroplaning and crashing. Give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination safely.
- "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should." This Ferrari 488GTB was called in by concerned motorists for driving at a high rate of speed on the Grapevine. When we located the vehicle, it was doing 135 mph. Avoid unnecessary contact with our officers by driving safely.
