I don't think people realize how powerful a restored American Chestnut would be for Appalachia: 1. Wildlife population explodes 2. Premium, fast growing hardwood product 3. Forested hills/mountains can be silvo-pastured (ever had chestnut finished beef/pork?)

My very general thesis is that religious people will make up an increasing share of those who are highly competent, as they have a strict moral code that calls them to discipline and habituate virtue, helping them to avoid the mental illness that besets everything these days.
