I came in for surgery almost one week ago to get this cancer out of my body, and I’m still here. It’s been the hardest thing I’ve ever done but I’m holding steady and I’m still fighting.
One year ago today I was preparing for a 12 hour surgery to fight cancer. In this last year I’ve beat cancers ass, had a beautiful baby boy, chased my dream as a trainer, and am now winning races.
My life just got a little more cute as we just had a little boy. His mother was a trooper through my cancer and took care of me now it’s my turn to take care of them. Welcome to the world River Derby Bryant!
I learned today that I will need to go through 30 rounds of radiation beginning in the next couple weeks. I’m feeling good and my spirit is high. I’ll be back to handicapping this coming week. God bless horse racing.
Personal update: Last Tuesday I was diagnosed with oral cancer. After a CT scan there is reason to believe it has spread to my lymph nodes in my throat. I will have surgery November 11th to remove the cancer from my tongue and the neck dissection to remove it from my lymph nodes.
I took a trip and drove 4 hours to Houston and passed my trainers test! Time to follow my dreams. Now time to get a couple clients and get stalls at Lone Star Park!
6 years ago I was helping my dad run horses at Lone Star Park on Father’s Day and on this Father’s Day my dad will be helping me run horses as I have 3 running today at @lonestarpark . This is the greatest game on the planet.
