- I don’t understand why we cannot enforce mandatory COVID vaccinations for hospital employees. We require other vaccines. This is not reinventing the wheel. Quite frankly if you’re refusing the vaccine you do not belong anywhere near a hospital. For both health & ethical reasons.
- Questions for people who refuse to get the vaccine due to potential side effects/say it is "experimental" 1. If you get COVID would you go to the hospital for treatment? If yes, move to #2
- My friend who is an ICU RN told me her raise this year was 18 cents per hour. But yes, sure, we have no idea why there are huge retention issues or how we could possibly address them.
- I vented to my dad about how hard my trauma/ICU shift was on Saturday and how the blood shortage made things even more challenging and exhausting. He sent me this today. Be like my dad.
- Does anyone else purposely set their alarm ~ a half hour earlier than they need to wake up so that when it goes off you look at it and get that sweet, sweet moment of being like oh heck ya *false alarm* I get 30 more mins of sleep … or am I a psychopath?
- My friend who is an RN just told me that her co-worker didn’t get approved time off for her own wedding. Wtf are we doing to our own over here in healthcare.
- My next door neighbor threw a large party last night. I was on home call for COVID ECMO patients last night. The great American juxtaposition.
- I feel like one of the main reasons people could be hesitant to cancel student debt for medical professionals is because if people were gifted the financial freedom to leave the medical field, they damn well might.
- A white coat ceremony is the symbolic start of the rest of your medical career. It is understandable to not want to link that core memory with someone whose views regarding healthcare strongly do not align with your own. I stand with the University of Michigan medical students.
- Hear me out… A dating app for medical professionals called “Type and Screen” Algorithm programmed for maximum compatibility and when you both swipe right it’s a “Cross-match!”
- Thank you to the OR’s for pushing back their start times so we all could be present to show our support #WhiteCoatsForBlackLives @NMSurgery @NorthwesternMed
- Definitely my proudest intern moment this week was asking my PGY-2 what type of medication “Ex-a-mine” was while reading handoff “if tachy, examine” Oh. Ex-am-ine. Good, good 🤦🏼♀️ #internchronicles
- Asking your medical students in the OR if they know who sings the 1970’s song that is playing is a HIPAA violation.
