I've finished Lightbringer 5: THE BURNING WHITE. It's in my editor's inbox now. Merry Christmas!

Congratulations to my friend @BrandSanderson successfully funding his Kickstarter with a bit of time to spare. Mark my word, one of these days, this talented newcomer is really gonna shake things up!

    It’s been a long time coming . . . NIGHT ANGEL NEMESIS. Spring 2023.

I've turned in the finale of the Lightbringer Series, THE BURNING WHITE. Late October publication looks solid. 1,420 manuscript pages. Lego for scale.
A Harry Potter LEGO mini fig stands in front of a huge stack of papers labeled THE BURNING WHITE by Brent Weeks. 375,300 words.

I love praise. Everyone loves praise. But fans, please don't praise a writer by saying, "Your books are so much better than __'s books!" Especially in our genre, those two writers are often friends, so that kind of praise doesn't feel good, it feels bad.

A long book is inconvenient for EVERYONE in the industry--writer, editors, sales, buyers, stockers, transportation, bookstores, librarians, and everyone else--except readers. Everyone in the industry should remember the last.

I'm working on a novel set in the Night Angel universe. No timeline on publication or other details yet--other than that you will see at least a couple familiar faces. :) I'm having fun!

Had my first-ever sighting of someone reading my book in the wild. Didn't know how (if?) to start a conversation, but then she came up to me. "Hey, are you Brent Weeks?" "Yes?" "I know your wife!" "...Oh."

Working on edits on this monster (THE BURNING WHITE), and I'm again reminded of Terry Brooks's words of wisdom to me: "Shorter books, Brent. Shorter books."

As I walked out to my writing shed this morning, it occurred to me that this is my dream. Quietly going to work, wrestling the words day by day. It’s an enormous privilege to get to do what I was made for. I feel grateful beyond what a few sentences can capture. Thank you!

Someone scolded me for not spoiler-tagging a post about the Odyssey. It's been out for 2,700 years.

Was on vacation. Saw a couple newlyweds reading. One had a TOME. "Gotta be fantasy," I thought. Yep, they were enjoying @BrandSanderson & @scalzi. I said, "Hey, I know those guys, you have anything you want to tell them?" They didn't. So this anecdote kinda ends with a whimper.
