    We identified and reported the infringement, and requested a takedown of the URL in question – not of the entire itch.io domain. The temporary takedown of the website was a decision made by the service providers, not BrandShield. (3/4)

    According to this post on hacker news by the person running Itch, a "fraud and phishing" request was made to itch's domain registrar. This is not a normal way to take down a specific page - the usual method would be a DMCA request. news.ycombinator.com/item?id=423640…

    This debacle started with a page resembling the "Funko Fusion" dev page x.com/OriginalFunko/… This normally results in a DMCA takedown request, which only takes down offending content. rmwarnerlaw.com/blog/what-does… itch.io states the site went down due to false "phishing/fraud" claims. x.com/itchio/status/… THOSE claims get sites taken down. trendmicro.com/vinfo/us/secur…
