- Congratulations Matt Rhea. Your speed/science based total revamp of the Bama S&C program has flown under the radar but has unleveled the playing field like never seen before.
- One of the challenges of coaching, is for the former athlete into the coach. One of the hardest things to let go of is the thing you think made you successful at a key point in career. Because it worked for you doesn’t mean it applies to others.
- “Engage the core” must be the new “fire the glutes” thing to say. I’ve heard it a few times this past week. Fascinating to think humans have walked upright for so long and have not been doing either of these two things.
- There is no "lifting" the knees in sprinting. There is applying force down which creates greater reflexive action, causing knees to rise.
- Coaches remember... the level of intensity you safely achieve in training is the level of performance you can expect. Can't say the same about volumes...
- Volume is an irritant. It's busy work, preventing achievement of intensity. Makes you tired without accomplishing anything, while increasing risk. Viewing volume increases as progress is fool's gold.
- A disturbing trend in training. Focusing on weaknesses in a force-velocity profile means you're wallowing in low quality training. You need to train strengths to potentiate and bring along improvements in the weaknesses.
- Speed needs to be trained from day 1 for ALL athletes. Speed is base for all athletes. Training speed last in training year, gets you beat.
- I see sprint related practices with a lot tape drills, mini hurdles and cones involved. Makes me wonder if people are coaching obstacle course ninjas. In all seriousness, don’t ever get too far away from you being able to coach like those objects never existed.
- If you think rehab and training aren't the same, you don't understand either.
- Maybe I'm not crazy after all, or maybe people are finally listening news.yahoo.com/super-bowl-con…

- At Clemson, minority based men's sports (FB, BB) fund everything. It's interesting that they still be required to fund majority based sports, but no longer allowed to fund another minority based men's sport (Track)
