I am excited to post that the Boettcher group will transition to UC Berkeley and LBNL in Jan 2024. Big plans for our work across research, education, technology commercialization, and workforce, building on efforts here in the @OregonEChem which we will continue to push forward!

- We wrote a collaborative primer on an electrochemistry topic that confused me for years: how to think about and use electrostatic, chemical, electrochemical, and other "potentials" in electrochemical systems. Perhaps useful! @OregonEChem
- Our complete electrochemical engineering course video lecture set is now available to complete our fundamentals lecture course. electrochemistry.uoregon.edu/education/elec…
- Shannon is promoted to Professor (effective Sept. 15th). Many thanks to all the students and postdocs for their hard work, the agencies how funded our work, and to colleagues out there who wrote letters!
- It's getting real at UCB.... also just received incredible honor of the Theodore Vermeulen Chair, formally held by the formidable catalysis pioneer Enrique Iglesia. Wow! Vermeulen too had a remarkable career - tremendous work in ion-exchange and absorption. A quote from Vermeulen
- We are building a major effort in electrochemical science, engineering, and technology at UC Berkeley / LBL to synergize with @OregonEChem and work together to change the world through electrochemistry. electrochemistry.berkeley.edu
- Sebastian's paper out as a first release! science.sciencemag.org/content/early/… A fundamental study of how to accelerate water dissociation in BPMs and on electrocatalyst surfaces - with the potential for technology impact. Shannon's seminar on the topic is here: uoregon.hosted.panopto.com/Panopto/Pages/…
- The NSF has selected our *Center for Interfacial Ionics* as a Phase I Center for Chemical Excellence. Our science goal is to develop a fundamental understanding of ion transfer kinetics of broad relevance in science and technology. @IonicsCCI ionics.uoregon.edu
- We are hiring a research professor to drive independent and collaborative research and help teach/run unique electrochemistry grad program. Long-term, or use on a path to a tenure-track position. electrochemistry.uoregon.edu/now-hiring/
- Our very own Prof. Geri Richmond is slated to be the next DOE Undersecretary for Science! energy.gov/articles/state…
- Shannon has accepted a joint appointment with Pacific Northwest National Labs... looking forward to expanded collaboration and impactful research!
- Consider a postdoc in beautiful Oregon! Areas include: BPMs, WD catalysis, nanoscale photoelectrochemistry, electrolysis. Please send CV, cover letter including professional goals, and the names of 3 references to Prof. Boettcher: [email protected]. See lab website for details.
- Drinks on me in NYC!🏅👏 Join us in congratulating the Laureates of the 2023 Blavatnik National Awards for Young Scientists! 🔬 ⚗️ ⚛️ Shannon Boettcher (@BoettcherLab, @OregonEChem, @UO_Research), William Anderegg (@WilkesCenter), Svitlana Mayboroda (@UMNews) bit.nyas.org/3OcsR2p
