For some reason this seems extremely shocking to me despite her age, like that there is an eternal liveliness to her in my head that makes dying seem incongruent. I mean, this is the woman who had an affair with Keanu in her 60s. RIP.

Seems so innocuous to put near a climax but I love just how constant the displays of solidarity and cultural amalgamation (that whistle at the end) is in opposition to white supremacy. So much show and don’t tell to do so, embodied by having Leo meet every person in that room.

Yah I expected my students to be so adept at the internet, but they have no idea how to research or, like , “google well” because they are an entire gen of just taking what comes along in the stream. I think it’s prob a bigger issue than attention spans, that no one “seeks”.

Twin Peaks is absolutely about abuse against women, American decline, the noir tradition’s relationship to both… but I think ppl miss that Lynch intuitively believes in the spiritual cosmology he creates, it just happens to be an insanely eccentric one to be told at such scale.

I know it was kind of a filmbro cliche in its heyday but I was among the “is this guy our Paul Newman?” crowd a decade ago. Instead he’s gunning to be Actually Charming Ryan Reynolds and it’s gotta be the most disappointing actor turn in recent memory.
