Two years ago, Rory, crying: ‘I just can’t wait to get another shot at this.’ 4-1-0, his best Ryder Cup return, and the top scorer in the event. Worth the wait.

This should be really simple: you are banned from next year’s US Open, and you’re not welcome back at Oakmont. Treat professional golfers like you’d treat anyone else. It is just their profession, it doesn’t merit acceptance of pure dickheadery.

Great work from Rory's social media person tbf.

Personally, when I think about the 2008 US Open* some 16 years later, it’s the absence of world number 35 Sean O’Hair that sticks in my mind.

Also a reminder: Sergio Garcia was disqualified from the Saudi International for assaulting greens and bunkers.

I would say, without being rude, the future of golf as a sport will be unaffected by whether Graeme McDowell is allowed to play in the Travelers Championship in a couple of weeks. More self-aggrandising bollocks.

'Especially Scottie' from Rose there was absolutely elite.

Took 15 minutes for us to miss a shot with two golf balls on the course. Bravo yet again, television.

Here's my player-by-player guide to the Masters. Try not to ask but if you could like and retweet that would be very much appreciated, as a lot of words have been written and I'd like a lot of people to read them. Thanks!

Significant shots in a US Open happening and we miss them. Morikawa's third, Rahm's drive, Scheffler's every tee-shot. I mean how has Rahm's ball ended up there? That's just as interesting and important as how he gets out of it. As ever, far too few shots are being aired.

Maybe that's normal in mountain biking, I don't know, but as a layman I feel like I've just watched something absolutely insane from Tom Pidcock.

Can't compete with the actual, well-sourced journalists who have insight into what comes next, but was asked to write about LIV, and felt the best way would be to try to do as I'm often told: take away the politics. The sport was shit.
