We are sad to announce that Birmingham Museums Trust has entered a period of redundancy consultations as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Around half of our staff have been placed at risk of redundancy.

We were honoured yesterday to host a very special event where we unveiled a blue plaque dedicated to a much-missed icon of Birmingham, Benjamin Zephaniah.
Friends and family of Benjamin joined together to share memories and celebrate his life with poetry and music.
Vanley Burke is one of the most important British photographers. Born in Jamaica, he arrived in Birmingham in 1965 aged 15. Photographing Birmingham (1968 - 2011) is on display on our bridge gallery @BM_AG until 1st July. birminghammuseums.org.uk/bmag/whats-on/…
Recent coverage about the future of the museums is speculation. We will continue to care for and protect the city’s cultural heritage on behalf of the people of Birmingham.
