- Pictured is Neil Alexander & his wife Denise. Neil is the legendary boys coach @ Lincoln H.S. & is one of the winningest coaches of all-time. He is the recipient of the 2020 Chuck Rolinski Lifetime Achievement Award. Congratulations Neil.
- We congratulate Michael O'Brien on going into the IBCA HOF (Media, Class of 2020). Michael is a mainstay in covering h.s. basketball in the Chicago Area. He has been with the Chicago Sun-Times since 2001 & has served as h.s. sports editor since 2008. Social media is his specialty
- Illinois Basketball Fact: Tyra Buss who played at Mt. Carmel H.S., Mt. Carmel, Illinois scored 4,897 points between 2010-2014. This is the most points scored in Illinois High School Basketball, Boys or Girls. She did this in 129 games.
- If you travel to Southern IL. You are in Herrin Territory. Legendary Coach Rich Herrin has won nearly 1,000 games. His success @ Okawville, Benton & SIU are remarkable. At Benton his teams won 21 Regionals, 7 Sectionals & made 5 Elite 8 trips. Three x he took SIU to the NCAA.
- The Illinois Basketball Coaches Association & the Basketball Museum of Illinois congratulate Lincoln H.S. Boys Basketball Coach on winning his 900th game. More important than this terrific milestone is the impact Coach Alexander has had on so many lives.
- Great COY Luncheon yesterday with 395 in attendance. Dee Brown received his HOF plaque COY award. Dee led Roosevelt University in Chicago to 25 wins in his 1st year as coach there. He gave a very inspirational talk at the end of the luncheon. Thanks Dee, we wish you the best.
- Dominic Cannon has been a long-time assistant & head coach in the Chicago Land Region. He has coached @ Palatine, Prospect, York & Chicago St. Patrick high schools. In 2019, Dominic was inducted into the IBCA HOF as a career coach.
- Bruce Douglas led Quincy to their most successful seasons in history, including an undefeated state championship. He was Mr. Basketball in 1982. Bruce's leadership keyed Illinois to 4 NCAA appearances. He was All Big Ten & Def. Player of the Year in 85 & 86.
- Pat Ambrose of Stevenson H.S. is a member of the 2020 IBCA HOF Class. Pat's 2015 team captured the Class 4A State Title. His teams have won 4 state finals trophies to go along with 9 regional & 5 sectional plaques. Pat's teams have 450 games.
- After the 2019-2020 season, this is what the All-Time Boys School Victories list looks like. We believe Elgin would be in the top 15, but they have many missing yrs. They need a researcher. West Aurora was 1 victory short of cracking the top 30.
- Greg Sapp of Effingham is known as the "Gold Standard" for sports reporting in East Central & Southern Illinois. The IBCA Media HOF'er began covering high school basketball games during the 1977-78 season. Greg is the recipient of the IHSA Distinguished Media Service Award.
- Congratulations to Coach Sean Taylor who won his second state championship. His first state title came when he was the head coach at Shelbyville High School in 1996. His Moline team played brilliantly last night in defeating a well-coached & tough Benet Academy team.
- Scott Miller has coached 2 different schools to the Final Four, Plano in 1999 & Glenbard East in 2011. Scott retired as the winningest boys coach in Glenbard East history with 316 wins & 7 regional titles. Miller is an IBCA HOF Career Coach, Class of 2020.
