Theresa May’s husband Philip is to get a knighthood. Just like Dennis Thatcher before him. I’m sure they were both supportive of their partners in No 10. But how many political wives have ever been given a Damehood? Why do men have to be rewarded for supporting their spouses?

For the avoidance of any doubt. I am sorry that by mistake I said on the news last night that @NicolaSturgeon was “enjoying the opportunity” to set lockdown policy in Scotland. That was not what I meant to say and I apologise to her for my error

On last night’s News at Ten I said @NicolaSturgeon had “enjoyed the opportunity to set her own lockdown rules”I should have said she was “embracing” the opportunity to set a separate policy for Scotland. I never meant to suggest she is enjoying this crisis. Of course she is not

Strong message from Nicola Sturgeon direct to Boris Johnson about indyref2 “this is not a demand from the SNP, it is the right of Scotland, and you as the leader of a defeated party in Scotland have no right to stand in the way”

Scottish parliament votes overwhelmingly to cancel Brexit. SNP, Labour and Greens all voted to revoke Article 50 and stop Brexit unless there is another referendum.

Scottish Parliament has voted in favour of holding another independence referendum. But this does not mean it will happen. Still needs agreement from Westminster. They've also voted to keep the EU flag flying outside Holyrood after Brexit. This will happen.

The comments below this from @GordonBrown are so moving and poignant. Thank you everyone
Today we remember John Smith who died thirty years ago. I remember being with him the night before he died when he ended his speech with "all we ask is the opportunity to serve." John's whole life was a testimony to the nobility of public service.

I do not believe that @NicolaSturgeon is enjoying this crisis. I had meant to say on the ten o’clock news that she has “embraced” the opportunity to make a policy unique to Scotland. I said “enjoyed” by mistake. Not suggesting she is enjoying crisis but embracing devolution
Never in my entire political career have I ‘enjoyed’ anything less than this. My heart breaks every day for all those who have lost loved ones to this virus.

Rather surreal. Boarding a plane to head INTO the storm. Flying to Florida to cover hurricane Milton. Thats the sort of stupid thing TV crews do - what’s everyone else doing here on this pretty busy flight?
