- We've said it before... The UK did not (and still doesn't) send £350m/week to the EU @BorisJohnson .
- The member of the audience on @bbcquestiontime also said earning £80,000 a year didn't even put him in the top 50% of earners. Anything over about £25,500 would put you in the top 50%.
- A man on @bbcquestiontime said he earned more than £80,000 a year but that did not put him in the top 5% of earners. @HMRCgovuk figures show £75,300 put you in the top 5% in 2016-17. If you adjust that by earnings growth it suggests you now need to be earning about £81,000.
- Boris Johnson said that at the time of the 2018 Salisbury poisonings Keir Starmer: “sat on his hands, he said nothing, the leader of the opposition [Jeremy Corbyn] parroted the line of the Kremlin”. Here he is on @bbcquestiontime the day after Theresa May held Russia "culpable"..@Keir_Starmer says the attack in Salisbury should be "condemned by all of us without reservation" and backs the actions taken by the Prime Minister #bbcqt
00:00 - At #PMQs Boris Johnson said that setting up a free port "is something that can only be achieved by Brexit" He's made this kind of claim before In fact, there are around 80 free ports in the EU and the UK had them up until 2012
- Having set a target of 100,000 tests per day by the end of April, the government says it reached 122,347 tests yesterday This figure includes home testing kits which are counted when they are sent out - so it does not mean the test was actually completed or returned to a lab
- Boris Johnson says we can't have free ports (or tax-free zones) at the moment. That's not correct - there are over 80 free ports across the EU and the UK had them until 2012 bbc.co.uk/news/uk-488682… #BBCDebate #GE2019
- Thanks to @JolyonMaugham. The HMRC figures do indeed exclude those not earning enough to pay income tax, which means the @bbcquestiontime audience member would have been well inside the top 5% of earners. You can read more about it here:
- Boris Johnson said he’s putting "the biggest ever cash boost into the NHS” But the average % increase (3.4%) is lower than that of Blair and Brown governments (6%). #bbqt
- Boris Johnson says crime fell 20% while he was London mayor - which is true, but it fell 26% in the whole of England and Wales during that time #bbcournextpm
- Jeremy Corbyn said there are 43,000 nurse vacancies. He's right - there are currently 43,500 nursing vacancies in the NHS in England #BBCDebate #GE2019
- After a question about Brexit, trade and the Irish border, Boris Johnson says there wouldn't be tariffs with the EU because the UK could rely on GATT 24 allowing tariff free trade. That's wrong - both sides need to agree a trade deal first. #BBCOurNextPM
- Boris Johnson talks about his pledge to put 20,000 more police on the streets Since 2010, police officer numbers have decreased by 20,500 in England and Wales, so the 20,000 new ones would not quite replace them #bbcqt
