    20 yrs ago when I joined the 🇨🇦foreign service, I was questioned by intelligence services about my sexuality. Much has changed, but there is still work to do. My family & I are prepared to do our part at the 🇺🇳 #OutAndProudAmbassador #BreakingTheSilence #IDAHOBIT2020 #LoveWins

    Married 16 years ago today, August 1, 2004. A few wrinkles since, but all laugh lines ;) Deep thanks to those who supported us along the way, including the jeweller who asked if our rings were a “rush job” since new 🇨🇦leg had yet to be passed. In it for the long haul, then & now.

    After 7 weeks helping to lead 🇨🇦’s Emergency Response Team in NYC, now also back on my reg UN beat. The crisis isn’t over, but systems are in place to support CDNs, our staff & their families. Big thanks to my @CanadaUN colleagues. Excited to rejoin you & the 🇺🇳 family. #together

    My grandparents each lost seven siblings & both parents in the Holocaust. 18 people killed in my immediate family alone. But numbers obscure. Each had hopes, fears, talents, dreams, beliefs, likes & dislikes. Each had character. Each was diverse. Each was themselves. #WeRemember.

    This #IDAHOTB, my partner & I are reaffirming our commitment to be proud & positive. We are fortunate to be from a country where we can express who we are & love who we love, freely and fully. But not all are as lucky & many are at risk. Help end discrimination however you can.

    I came out for me but found the courage to because of Trent, my first & only bf. 20 years on, he’s still my source of strength. To the siblings, parents, allies, friends & lovers out there, don’t underestimate your support. Lead with empathy, always. #NationalComingOutDay
