When it’s all worth it. First time being back in clinics in Sierra Leone since 2019. Social signals ‘bracelets’ for childhood vaccines are now being scaled. Many new learnings talking to nurses and caregivers - things that I couldn’t have anticipated when we did the RCT. ❤️💉

Incredible news! The first malaria vaccine has arrived in Sierra Leone. Children will start receiving the vaccine in Q1 2024 💉 and bracelets soon after :) 📿
The Malaria burden is high in #SierraLeone as it accounts for over two million hospital visits per year, of which children under-five years of age account for one million of these cases. This preventable disease also accounts for 25 per cent of child deaths in the country. 1/2

Let’s repeat this again: Measles is one of the most infectious diseases. A person with measles can cough in a room, leave, and hours later, you could catch the virus from the droplets in the air that they left behind. NO other virus can do that —> Vaccinate your kids!
Washington has declared a public health emergency over measles vox.com/2019/1/27/1819…

My undergraduate students just asked me if I had watched Seinfeld. I said no, not yet. why? The answer was because I am reminding them of Elaine. They said it's a good thing...?? I am now on youtube at my office, learning about Elaine 😄 #Seinfeld

Oma and I made it to Paris and we celebrated life. It’s been a dream come true for both of us. The last two years have been the hardest in our lives as we lost my grandfather, the man she’s spent her life with and who made me the person that I am today. His books are now mine ❤️
