The Akita is a Japanese dog breed of large size. Originating from the mountains of northern Japan, the Akita has a short double coat. Standing in height 60.9 to 71.1 cm (24 to 28 in) and weighing 31.7 to 58.9 kg (70 to 130 lb). Lifespan: 10 to 12 years.
