    One of a kind: #Elettrotreno #ETR252 #Arlecchino. Built in 1960 and preserved by #FondazioneFS 🇮🇹, the train is operating a #Milan to #Venice special today. Among the design features: the #Belvedere lounge at the front, just below the workplace of the train driver. @LeFrecce

    It is moving again after a break of some years, yet revenue service will only resume in 2023: earlier today #Trieste 🇮🇹 to #Opicina tramcar number 404 was out on the line for a test run, very much to the surprise of motorists who are no longer used to come across a tram here 😉.

    I just came to sit behind my UK 🇬🇧 colleague @UKinCroatia @a_dalgleish (who happens to be English 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿) and I see he is honouring his promise to wear Croatian 🇭🇷 fan socks in case Croatia wins #CROENG 😎 👍

    Night train from Villach 🇦🇹 to Zurich 🇨🇭. The carriages are Croatian: the train originates in Zagreb 🇭🇷. No @_DiningCar on board but breakfast 🥐 ☕️ is being served in the sleeper cabin by the train attendant as we pass alongside scenic Walensee, one of the numerous Swiss lakes.

    Probably the most innovative feature on the #ÖBB new generation #NightJet: the pod, the capsule, the mini-cabin, whatever you call it. Although sold as “couchette” it’s probably closer to a “sleeper”: a single-cabin at an affordable rate. Two levels of capsules: upper and lower.

    The #Ventimiglia to #Genova railway line is still single track at some places. #Laigueglia, a lovely seaside town in #Liguria 🇮🇹, is one of them. This is a busy line with #Trenitalia #Intercity trains to #Milan speeding through and regional services for #Savona stopping here.

    The #SBB🇨🇭#TransEuropExpress #RAe #TEE on the #Gotthard line today as #SBBhistoric #Extrazug: 1960s elegance, including in the @_DiningCar. One thing is a must for the railway enthusiast: enjoying the view of the line ahead like the engine driver. A unique feature of this train.

    I’m the only passenger getting off the #CaledonianSleeper at #Corrour 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, Britain‘s highest railway station (at 402 metres a.s.l) - and said to be the most remote one. Strong winds and a snowshower as the @CalSleeper departs, followed by sunny spells. A really beautiful place.

    Long gone, yet one of my all-time favourites on European rails: the stylish #CatalanTalgo, able to run on (Spanish) broad gauge and (French) standard gauge tracks. In its final years, it linked Barcelona 🇪🇸 to Montpellier 🇫🇷 and came with a bar-type @_DiningCar. 📷 January 2008.

    The #Graz 🇦🇹 to #Zurich🇨🇭#Eurocity #Transalpin is one of just a few remaining services which come with a full, traditional, #ÖBB @_DiningCar. Time to enjoy lunch at a well dressed table as we pass through the Austrian Alps on this beautiful autumn day. @unsereOEBB

    #Austria’s fastest locomotive, an @unsereOEBB class 1216, seen at #Munich 🇩🇪 Hauptbahnhof a moment ago, ready to work a #Eurocity train to #Venice 🇮🇹 via #Innsbruck 🇦🇹. Service speed over the #Brenner railway line will remain a little bit below the 357 kph indicated though. 😉
