Nearly 60 Labour MPs backed by UNISON voted for the government’s recent welfare cuts.
If elected as General Secretary, I will oppose blank cheques to the Labour Party. It’s time to end our union’s subservience to Labour.
It is welcome to see 20 MPs committed to opposing the welfare cuts, but what about the 100+ MPs in the HoC UNISON group we have given money & support to?
If elected GS, I will not give our money to MPs unprepared to fight for our members and policy.
Starmer is reported to be planning to force through appalling cuts to welfare.
UNISON's job is to be at the forefront of opposition to any attacks on living standards.
It's time for our subservience to Starmer to end.
Andrea Egan is standing to be the first lay member General Secretary of UNISON.
If you are a UNISON member, and want your union to be run by its members, then make sure your branch nominates @Andrea4GS!
I was over the moon to see our UNISON women's conference overwhelmingly endorse a motion that supports our transgender and non-binary comrades 🏳️⚧️
We all want a truly inclusive union! I have consistently opposed all forms of discrimination I always will ✊
It’s great to see so many MPs supporting an amendment that would prevent cuts to welfare, including 9 who received support from UNISON.
However 53 UNISON-backed MPs have not. Our GS and Labour Link must be clear that they must support the amendment and vote against cuts.
🚨 Britain’s largest union should be run by our members, for our members. That’s why I’m putting myself forward to be UNISON’s next General Secretary.

UNISON members first, not the Labour Party.
If elected, I will oppose our union providing support for Labour MPs who do not fight for us and will launch a comprehensive review of our relationship with the Labour Party.
❌ 🌹 It's time to end our union's subservience to Labour.
If I'm elected General Secretary of UNISON, I will oppose blank cheques to the Labour Party.

Since 2010, UNISON members’ pay has gone down by 30%. But our General Secretary’s pay has gone up to £181k.
If elected, I will only take the wage of a social worker. My pay will go up when your pay goes up.
