I could not be more pleased or delighted by this wonderful review of my new novel, High & Low @spectator. It gets the humour and comedy as well as the suspense of living through a v contemporary riot ( guns & knives & fire). RT please
I utterly disagree. He was bright enough to get a place at Oxford, he chose to spew hatred, he’s an adult who broke the law and the rules of civilised conduct against a minority. He should be sent down. No decent person could support him.
This young man - who could have had a bright future ahead of him - is now unemployable.
I'm not making excuses for him. But I feel sure many individuals and institutions contributed to his downfall. Who will not be held accountable for their role in this.
Let's hope those
“She would easily be a billionaire were it not for her extensive philanthropy and her decision to stay tax resident in the UK.” @jk_rowling, defender of women & children & gay rights.
This is the letter in defence of @jk_rowling in @thesundaytimes that I signed with many other authors, actors and artists who hate bullying and misogyny. RT please and add your name online.
During the pandemic, I took out membership of @nationaltrust. I am now cancelling it. Stitching over @jk_rowling name because they disagree with her support of women’s rights is the last straw. RT
Interesting: Emma Watson is trending, Daniel Radcliffe isn't. Both both were equally deluded and insolent to @jk_rowling about trans - Watson called her a "witch", Radcliffe told her to "educate herself." I think by now we all know who is educated. Both shd apologise, right now.
Can I just say, as a novelist, critic and English graduate that I do not know or care what a fronted adverbial is, and want to roast Michael Gove over a slow fire for forcing a generation of primary school children to learn this in English instead of learning to love reading?
When is @BBCNews or indeed @BBCPanorama going to cover the Sandie Peggie case? Why do they persistently ignore stories that has half the population up in arms? I think we should be told. RT
Many people in the publishing industry have asked me why I go on sticking up for @jk_rowling and the rights of women to exclude men from our spaces, when it has been professionally divisive. To me, it is as urgent as the fight against racism. Good men get it - bad ones don't.
It is not ok to risk women’s safety with unisex loos. Seeing a smirking man in the crowded ladies’ ones @oldvictheatre last night was deeply shocking, and your attitude means that I will not be returning. RT
Much as I enjoyed seeing The Count of Monte Cristo last night, I will not be returning to @Everymancinema until it sorts out signage on its toilets. I don’t want to open a door onto (stinking) men’s urinals, labeled “Everyone”. A woman can’t use those.
I greatly admire Peter Oborne, one of the bravest journalists we have. Apparently he had real difficulty getting this article published. Please read and RT if you care about Fake News and what it is doing to democracy.
Someone on @BBCRadio4 Moral Maze has just claimed that “most people” now accept transwomen are women and transmen are men. No, we don’t - and this should have been challenged.
