    My mum texted me advising me not to "overwhelm" my boyfriend by being too enthusiastic about my godsons. Often she is v wise, but it's a HARD disagree from me here. Ugh, the extent to which women are expected to suppress joys, desires & hopes to avoid "scaring" fully grown men.

    Ah wow. Such a romantic thing happened. Sitting next to a handsome guy on the tube, both with our headphones on listening to music; he passed his phone to me with the "You're beautiful, may I ask for your name?" written on the screen, & we typed notes in the roar of the train.
