It’s remarkable to see the power that one (or a select few people) years ahead of you can have on your career

- Replying to @AlexGorgoniDoug Merritt (former SPLK CEO) gave me a shot at Aviatrix, empowering me to be his CoS despite not having any operating experience. It was incredible to learn from him and his team
- @gokulr’s approach with founders is unlike anything I’ve seen before. His network, ability to provide guidance across a wide range of topics, and distill down key questions in short order is world-class.My first meeting with @AlexGorgoni started out as a structured hour long conversation about software and investing but quickly morphed into a two hour freewheeling discussion around culture, values, life, the universe, and everything. We reluctantly ended the conversation since
- Replying to @AlexGorgoniI’ve had a blast already at @MarathonMP. Would have never been able to get here without amazing people along the way. Huge amount of gratitude 🙏🏻
- Replying to @AlexGorgoniLike @MBGilroy’s, his passion for business building is infectious. The breadth of his experiences presents an incredibly unique vantage point. Pumped to get building. The Marathon Continues!
- @MBGilroy and I immediately clicked. Having also come from a larger fund, his vision of creating something smaller - both in $ and headcount - with a narrow, purposeful mission deeply resonated. The greatest privilege of this moment is proactively deciding who we get to spend every day with. We couldn't be more proud to announce that @AlexGorgoni is joining us as a Founding Partner at @MarathonMP. Alex embodies all of the qualities that we aim to build on at Marathon.
- Replying to @shomikghosh21 and @dannguyenhuuThis is so accurate. What an era. ZERO shame btw
- Agree with the notion that genAI powered outbound products will make email an even less effective channel. But spoke to a founder last week who got 2 multi-million $ POCs (of his total 10 active) via cold email. If you’re targeted and solving a real pain, not all is lost!
- Replying to @OnlyCFOThis is great. You mention logo retention but don’t go into detail. What about understanding the ACV of churned logos over time? Can be insightful when trying to connect the dots across time (e.g., moving up market & showing smaller $ customers less love, drilling into CAC, etc.)
- Replying to @lfg_capMSFT entrance into network security (SSE) relevant to PANW, NET, ZS
- Replying to @itunpredictable @dagaadit and @readtechnicallycould also weave in the open sourcing tooling alternatives (Prometheus, m3, Grafana, etc.) vs. usual suspect commercial vendors
- Replying to @itunpredictable and @readtechnicallymay be too theoretical, but as a follow on to modern data analytics piece – areas where it makes sense (or doesn’t) to start consolidating offerings (e.g., dbt getting into metrics layer vs. stand-alone offering) vs. best of breed? “Bundling the unbundled”
- Replying to @ArdaCapitalGood points in here. Would argue y/y rev growth is challenging to point to for driver of “success.” Hold periods 3-5+ yrs in many cases, deceleration will happen w/ or w/o PE. Would argue data showing ~3% decline pre vs. post is actually very solid given time horizon
- Replying to @cfo_mmYes. Depends on leadership / skill set existing in each sales vs. CFO org. If sales lacks leadership and CFO becomes more involved GTM ops, can be a logical fit. Not necessarily a common practice but can be a result of team skill set / construction
