Today we are mourning the loss of one of our own. An Alberta Wildfire crew member was fatally injured yesterday while responding to the wildfire in Jasper. This morning we stood heartbroken with our partners as a procession passed by.

- Alberta Wildfire is sending two crews of firefighters to assist our friends in California with their current wildfire situation. We wish them good luck and a safe return as they depart this morning.
- Close to 80 wildland firefighters arrived yesterday from Quebec and Ontario and are on their way to areas that need them the most. We’re grateful for the support. Thank you! Merci!
- This morning, we welcomed over 200 South African firefighters and support staff at the Edmonton International Airport. We’d like to thank them for their help as we fight fires across the province.

- Today, we honour Morgan Kitchen, who tragically lost his life a year ago while fighting the Jasper wildfire. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones. We want to recognize all our firefighters, contractors and staff members who face danger to keep communities safe.
- Another team of #ABWildfire specialists are departing for Australia today. This is the fourth deployment from Canada to assist with #AustralianFires.
- We are mourning the loss of one of our team after a fatal helicopter crash in the Peace River Forest Area. Our hearts go out to the pilot’s friends, family and colleagues. We know there are dangers in fighting wildfire, but it does not make a loss like this any less difficult.
- Alberta wildland firefighters continue to lend critical support fighting the California wildfires. Alberta 2 has been sent to the Lilac fire, north of San Diego, Alberta 1 is working on the Eaton Fire in Los Angeles County. Good luck and stay safe!
- Good luck to all our teams assisting with wildfires in British Columbia this weekend. We have sent firefighters, wildfire investigators, airtankers and an incident management team to help our neighbours to the west.
- Yesterday, 100 firefighters from Jalisco arrived in Edmonton to aid Alberta’s wildfire response. We’re grateful to all international, federal and partner agency firefighters working in Alberta right now. Thank you for your bravery and hard work in these difficult times.
- Yesterday over 20 wildland firefighters arrived from the Yukon, joining those already hard at work from Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia. Thank you for your support!
- Today is #MandelaDay2019, when the legacy of Nelson Mandela is honoured through community service. The South African firefighters assisting #ABwildfire in High Level will be volunteering locally tonight after their work on the Chuckegg Cr wildfire. Thank you @wo_fire!
