- I am deeply concerned by this afternoon’s arrest of three #BBC journalists in Khartoum. Journalists must be able to do their work freely without harassment and intimidation. Freedom of expression must be respected.
- Deeply concerned about the killing of two protesters, one of them a minor, in #Khartoum yesterday. This brings the number of those killed in the protests since 25 October coup to 81, including one woman and 10 minors.
- Shocked by allegations that a young woman, bus passenger, was gang raped by Central Reserve Police officers in #Khartoum yesterday following dispersal of a protest. The authorities should conduct an immediate investigation to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.
- Alarmed by reports of the killing by security forces of two protesters in Khartoum yesterday, one of them a 14-year-old boy - and by reports of two incidents involving security forces inside hospitals. The video of tear gas inside an operating theatre was shocking.
- Replying to @TomNdahiro @MONUSCO and 12 othersLet’s never forget that the Holocaust, the Genocide of the Tutsi in Rwanda and the Genocide of Srebrenica were preceded by words. There is still room to intervene and stop hatred against our fellow human beings. NEVER AGAIN!
- I have followed with concern news of the arrest and detention of former Cabinet Affair Minister Khalid Omer Yousif, and two other prominent members of the Forces for Freedom and Change. I call for respect of their due process and fair trial rights. My full statement is below:
- The stories presented in this report are devastating---highlighting the widespread abuses against the Massalit community Many had survived previous cycles of abuse in #Darfur. With reports of more attacks, it is imperative for concerted action
- Although I regret that my first visit to #Sudan was postponed, I welcome the useful initial meetings I held online, including with civil society, and look forward to meeting with them in person and with the authorities of Sudan when I am able to visit.
- Sharing views today on rights issues, with a true leader who is loving and humble. Wishing all the best to my friend Michelle Bachelet High Commissioner for Human Rights and thanking her for supporting me to help Sudan fulfilling its legal human rights obligations.
