Shame on #Canada for continuing to allow Endangered long-tailed #macaques to be imported from #Cambodia by Charles River Laboratories. Hundreds were transported by #SkyTaxi & arrived at @YMXAirport on 15 July. Their likely fate is to be used in toxicity (poisoning) tests.

In 2022, 5,784 #nonhumanprimates were used for the first time in EU labs; #longtailedmacaques accounted for 85% - mainly used in regulatory toxicity tests. Statistics released by the European Commission show that #France & #Germany were responsible for most of this testing.

Shocking 40 hour ordeal for long-tailed #macaques transported by #SmartLynx from #Mauritius to USA. Monkeys forced to endure six flights - with a lengthy 10 hour stop in Paris - before landing @JFKairport at 02:22 on 1st May. This is a cruel & inhumane trade in monkeys' lives.
