Austin policy makers are directly responsible for the overall safety of their citizens & visitors. Looks like they failed to make the right decisions & continue to defund, destroy, & demoralize public safety. Austin was one of the safest cities, NOT anymore. @Austin_Police

Overwhelming majority of voters in Austin do not support the Council's actions to defund the Police Department. Will the Mayor and Council continue to ignore their voices?

Today exemplifies why we are proud to represent the men and women of the Austin Police Department. Thank you to our partners at UTPD and DPS.

Yesterday was one of the most tragic, traumatic, and inexplicable events this community has faced in recent history. The men and women of the Austin Police Department have once again shown their bravery and dedication to this community. They rushed into a dangerous unknown

Solving crime and protecting the public takes people and resources. That’s why we hope political leaders will support the #TexasBacksTheBlue pledge and oppose the defunding of police departments.

Thank you for supporting the Austin Police Department. The council's budget proposals continue to become more ridiculous and unsafe for Austinites. They are going to ignore the majority who do not want the police defunded. The community will need help @ the Capitol. @gacc97
Please see below for my statement on @austintexasgov’s reckless proposal to cut @Austin_Police’s budget by up to $150 million in order to fund abortions in the name of progressivism.I strongly urge they reconsider and focus on using our tax dollars to protect its citizens.#txlege

Looking forward to working with the 87th Texas Leg. on addressing problems caused by Austin City Council. Defunding the police budget, cancelling cadet classes, refusing to start a new academy class, & reducing specialized/investigative units is not the answer. @TXlege #2021

“I was on Lamar and saw this group snowboarding and sledding down the MLK hill. Traffic was light and anyone who tried that hill would not make it up so I thought it would be a great time to block the hill and let them have some fun. Good times!” - @Austin_Police Officer Trahan

The APA is aware of the Mayor's comments tonight. We respectfully disagree with the Mayor. It would be better for everyone if the Council would ratify the 4-year agreement that has been TA'd by the City and APA...an agreement that Council has yet to take action on.
