Thank you for giving a strong answer to a ridiculous question, Coach Staley. Trans people belong in South Carolina, and trans people belong in sports!
I asked South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley if she supports transgender women (biological males) playing women's college basketball. "If you consider yourself a woman and you want to play sports or vice versa, you should be able to play."

Look at this blistering dissent from Justice Kagan: "What a message to send to state legislators and mapmakers about racial gerrymandering ...
Highlighted text from Kagan's dissenting opinion reads: "What a message to send to state legislators and mapmakers about racial gerrymandering ... Go right ahead, this Court says to States today. Go ahead, though you have no recognized justification for using race, such as to comply with statutes ensuring equal voting rights. Go ahead, though you are (at best) using race as a short-cut to bring about partisan gains—to elect more Republicans in one case, more Demo-crats in another. It will be easy enough to cover your tracks in the end ... Respectfully, I dissent."

A decision about having a baby or having an abortion is a deeply personal, private decision best left to a person, their family, and their doctor. We're celebrating today's decision from the SC Supreme Court striking down a 6-week abortion ban.
BREAKING: SC Supreme Court STRIKES DOWN 6-week abortion ban in 3-2 vote, saying it violates constitutional right to privacy: “Six weeks is, quite simply, not a reasonable period of time” for a woman to know she is pregnant and “take reasonable steps to terminate that pregnancy.”

BREAKING: We’re suing South Carolina over their redistricting process, which largely avoided public input and has left electoral districts wildly out of proportion just months before election season. Voters deserve fair maps — and a fair process to get them there.

S.C. Education Superintendent Ellen Weaver told a roomful of students they were "misled" about her proposed book censorship policy, R. 43-170. It didn't go over well.

👀 At an event in D.C., South Carolina Education Superintendent Ellen Weaver praises "overtly faith-based education" and suggests that rural public schools be replaced by one-room "micro schools" housed inside of churches.

Great News! The 287(g) program allows state & local law enforcement agencies to engage in federal immigration enforcement. These programs lead to illegal racial profiling & civil rights abuses & divert scarce resources from traditional local law enforcement functions.
NEW: Tomorrow, on her first full day as Charleston County Sheriff, Kristin Graziano will end the agency's 287(g) agreement with ICE. This was a central campaign promise made by @krgraziano, and was a major contrast between her and outgoing sheriff Al Cannon. #chsnews #scnews

This part in particular! Did y'all know South Carolinians are footing the bill at $225/hour for a lawyer to promote Ellen Weaver's book banning regulation?
Screenshot of a Request for Authorization to Employ Associate Counsel. Highlighted text reads, "Legal representation and potential litigation related to the promulgation of regulations relating to library materials." Requested rate is $225/hour, requested maximum fees are $25,000.
