Also would like to point out he had rosettes and other complex markings in the first movie! They're especially visible in the Downed Dragon and Forbidden Friendship scenes. In the later movies, however, these markings are no longer present.

Xanthochromism, also known as xanthism, is an unusal yellow pigmentation in an animal. It is often associated with the lack of a usual red or green pigmentation and its replacement with yellow. This is a condition seen in birds, fish and amphibians, as opposed to mammals. 1/2
