when SEAsians migrate to the USA we're "stealing jobs/welfare" and "taking advantage of the USA's wealth" but when americans move here it's all ~*enlightenment*~ and spirituality and low cost of living on a cheap visa
i know this is a haha funny tweet but im so serious if the PH invested more into individual sports like gymnastics, diving, etc instead of trying to put everything into gil@s we could have so many more olympic hopefuls/athletes. or just international athletes in general.
must we actually WRITE the fanfics we create in our heads? is it not possible to simply stare at the blank gdoc long enough that the words appear on the pages and a story emerges fully-formed like athena from zeus's head, powerful and poignant and possibly a little horny???
every time someone suggests social-media-esque changes to AO3 i get twitchy bc 80% of writers are already struggling with writing and putting out works – the LAST thing we need is to fight against an algorithm that'll disadvantage anything that's not popular and trendy.
why do we have to WRITE fanfics?? why can't we just think up a concept, roll around for two hours, bake six cakes, wander into a bog, and then telepathically project a complete story onto a gdoc and post it to ao3 with minimal edits at 3am when there are no gods???
the sexual tension between a fic writer and the list of synonyms pulled up on a google tab as they try to find The Correct Word to convey a very precise nuance/feeling
fanfic is not obligated to uphold and promote safe sane and consensual sex 100% of the time, fanfic is written to cater to the author's personal tastes and kinks and fantasies. if the way an author approaches a trope is bothering you, just click out of the fic.
please stop waiting for canon to validate your ship or picking apart the source material in order to "prove" your ship is real, like. srsly, part of the joy in shipping is that it's transformative of canon, meaning you can cherry pick details from source material and spin them
