Matrix switchers are one of the easiest ways to distribute route multiple audio/video sources to multiple audio/video destinations. These matrix switchers accept AV signals from a range of input sources – computers, cameras, Blu-ray Disc™ players, etc. – and route the output to different destinations, such as projectors, flat panel displays, and video conference codecs.
WyreStorm’s Matrix Switchers support 4K UHD transmissions up to 70m/230ft or 1080p to 100m/328ft and are capable of supporting 4K/60 4:4:4 and HDR content. There is a huge variety of WyreStorm matrix switchers available in Modular, fixed port and out-of-the-box options. Standard high speed HDMI cables are used for short distances. For longer runs, WyreStorm systems often rely on HDBaseT technology using quality Cat6 or Cat6a network cables to maintain signal quality.
Are there any device or cable length limitations I should be aware of?
Yes. Passive HDMI cables have distance limits for reliable 4K performance. Using HDBaseT or active cables enables much longer runs; however, performance depends on the quality of the cable, installation conditions, and the specific matrix model.
