Financial support

YEP Programmes offers financial support to organisations from the Water and Agrofood sectors to encourage them to deploy young Dutch and national Young Experts on international projects that contribute to the international development themes within these sectors.

The financial support is intended to enable the national Young Expert to gain experience with a Dutch organisation (training, coaching and network building) and to contribute to the international secondment of the Dutch Young Experts (training and professional coaching, travel expenses, accommodation, and preparation).

The applicant organisation contributes:

  • The salary costs, including the employer’s portion of social security contributions
  • Reservation of time for mentoring & supervision of Young Expert
  • Other insurances

YEP Programmes contributes to the following:

  • Subsidy for eligible budget items related to the YEP position to a maximum of EUR 30,000 per annum for a Dutch Young Expert and EUR 10,000 per annum for a national Young Expert (such as local travel costs, visa and laptop).

The budget details and reporting format for the Dutch and national YEP positions can be found on the Documents page.

Co-financing

Since the YEP Programmes are subsidised, it is not possible to finance the remaining costs via subsidies as well. The expenses not covered by the programmes should therefore be financed by the applicant organisation, by other sources of the applicant organisation.

Piling of subsidies occurs when an organisation receives a subsidy twice, for one expenditure. For example, an organisation is not allowed to make use of the YEP programme and subsequently finance YEP costs from a budget that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (or another Dutch Ministry) finances. However, YEP Tailor-made offers organisations the opportunity to purchase YEP's unique training and coaching programme, without making use of the financial support.
