What is Workiz’s Service Areas feature?
Workiz’s Service Areas feature lets you define where your business, or individual technicians, operates — by city, zip code, or region — so your entire team knows exactly where they can take jobs. It helps you prevent scheduling mistakes, streamline dispatching, and optimize job assignments based on location.
Your service area settings also work with Genius Answering, Smart Scheduling, Online Booking, and Reserve with Google to make sure that the appointments that your clients self-book are also within your defined service area limits.
How does the Service Areas feature work?
You can create one or more service areas by setting zip codes, drawing boundaries on a map, or labeling by region inside your Workiz account.
When a job comes in, Workiz will verify whether the address is within a defined area and alert you if it’s not.
In addition to defining boundaries for your business as a whole, you can assign specific boundaries for individual technicians, which is a great way to manage territories and routing optimization.
Can I assign specific teams or techs to certain service areas?
Yes. You can link service areas to certain techs, so only the right people are scheduled for jobs in those zones. It makes dispatching more efficient and reduces travel time.
