Frequently Asked Questions

The cushion attaches to the seat using two elastic straps that run through the cover and connect with hook-and-loop fasteners at each end.  Simply slide the straps under the seat or remove the seat and wrap the straps around it.  Make sure the straps are positioned under the bladder when attaching them.  We recommend using both straps for optimal security.  Additionally, the non-slip material on the back of each cushion helps prevent it from sliding while you’re seated.

With every cushion, you will receive:

1 User’s Manual with setup instructions and contact information

1 Pair of straps to securely attach the cushion to your seat

2 Peel & stick patches for quick puncture repairs

1 Wild Ass decal to show off your support

2-Year Warranty for peace of mind

And, of course, the full support of the Wild Ass team should you need us.

Each cushion has a twist valve that will be under your left pocket when seated.  To add air, twist the valve open & inflate by mouth.  Once seated on the cushion, twist the valve open to release air.  No tools necessary!

Each Wild Ass cushion features a simple twist valve, located under your left rear pocket when seated.  To inflate the cushion, twist the valve halfway open and add air by mouth—no air hose is needed.

When you’re done, simply twist the valve closed.  The built-in O-ring ensures a secure seal, and tightening it finger-snug is all it takes.

In this case, LESS is more!  Everyone is different, so we recommend inflating the cushion no more
than half full & letting air out from there.  When properly inflated, you should be suspended 1/8” – 1/4 “ off your seat.  Stability is the most important factor.  If you have to adjust your mirrors, you have too much air in the cushion.  If you feel your seat under you, you may need to add air to the cushion.

When properly inflated, you should be suspended 1/8” – 1/4” off your seat.  Our goal is not to raise the rider or change their position, although every cushion is adjustable.  For those concerned about being raised off the seat, when properly inflated, the interconnected air cells will direct air to the rear of the cushion when you put your legs down.  Essentially, your ability to reach the ground is uninterrupted.

We want you to be able to find the best fit for you, that’s why we offer three different options for you.  Our materials are rider specific with each one providing a different benefit.  The frequency and duration of your rides helps determine which material would be best for you.

LITE

Our Lite option is made of durable polyurethane.  The Lite material is a good option for anyone who does occasional riding.

If you are looking for a solution to mild discomfort from being seated in the same position, the Lite may be all you need.

Maybe your passenger wants to enjoy the occasional ride with you, but can’t stand your back seat?

Do you need a little something extra to keep you from getting sore & let air flow underneath you?

This is the cushion for you!

AIR GEL

This combination of air & medical grade gel is unique to Wild Ass!

This is a “gel pad” that is completely adjustable and will not get hot or stay hot.

Not only will you get pressure distribution from the interconnected air cells & air flow underneath you, the gel pads provide
vibration dampening.

This cushion is a step above the Lite with the added gel pads & provides a light, firm feel.

The Air Gel is often preferred by riders who struggle specifically with tailbone discomfort.

This cushion is popular among Sport bike riders, or those who ride offroad.

This is also a favored option for those on smaller seats as air & gel can help give the feel of more surface area.

For those who enjoy the longer distance ride when they find time, the Air Gel may be for you!

CLASSIC

Our Classic line is made of the same neoprene rubber used in therapeutic wheelchair cushions.

What makes the neoprene rubber superior is the elasticity of the material itself.

The “stretchiness” of the neoprene rubber allows it to not only conform to the body better, but absorb shock and vibration better than anything else on the market.

The Classic is the better option for long distance riders whose good day may add 300 or more miles on
the odometer.

We recommend this material for those who struggle with back pain, hip pain, sciatica, disc issues, etc. – those who want protection in addition to comfort & air flow.

For those who want the best from the get-go, this is your cushion

The shape is specific to the bike seat itself; you will want to find the closest fit for the seat you are using it on without the cushion hanging over the seat more than an inch.

The best way to determine the shape you need is to measure the WIDTH of your seat at the widest point WHERE YOU SIT and match the measurements to the correct shape.

SMART

This is the shape that fits most wider seats.  The Smart shape fits most Large Cruisers, Standards, Sport Touring, AND Adventure Touring bikes.  The Smart shape is also a great cushion for the rear seat of the larger touring motorcycles.  When it comes to using your cushion in other applications than your motorcycle, the Smart is often the best option for office chairs, vehicles, kayaks, skid steers, etc.

Size (WxL): 15.5 x 14 inches (39.5 x 36 cm)

SADDLE

Coming in at 13″ x 11.5″, the saddle is sure to revolutionize the seat on your smaller cruisers, large cruiser pillions, and even the big bore sport bike seats!

Size (WxL): 13 x 11.5 inches (33 x 29 cm)

SPORT

Sport was designed with a 6 inch / 15cm front to match the narrow seat profile of most Dual Sport, Adventure Touring, Sport Touring and Non-Touring Harley’s.  The Sport is also a good alternative for the Pillion on medium sized rear seats.

Size (WxL): 12.5 x 12.5 inches (31 x 31 cm)

PILLION

Pillion is a universal fit for passengers on almost all motorcycles. It may also be used by the rider on very short or narrow saddles.  Please note, larger rear seats may also use the Smart, Saddle, or Sport shape cushions.

Size (WxL): 9 x 11.5 inches (22 x 29 cm)

Yes! Our cushions are specifically designed to enhance airflow and reduce heat and moisture.  The lightweight polyester cover is vented to allow air flow beneath the rider, while the interconnected cells in the bladder promote ventilation for added comfort.

Remember, we are from Minnesota, so our cushions have been exposed to the best and the worst weather conditions!  The cushions are able to withstand the cold and counteract the heat, keeping you cool and dry as you ride.  The cover is made of Polyester, so it might get wet in the rain.  However, it is machine washable and will dry easily & quite quickly.  The bladder is airtight, so a little water will not harm it.

Of course, we encourage it!  You can use your Wild Ass Cushion anywhere you sit!  We use them on our office
chairs, our vehicles, horse saddles, kayaks & bleachers!
  Their versatility makes them priceless!

Our cushions are manufactured in an FDA approved wheelchair cushion factory in South Korea.  Directly from there, they arrive at the Wild Ass world headquarters in Brainerd, Minnesota.  Each part of every cushion is then checked over, approved, assembled, and made ready to go!

Wild Ass cushions stand out because we use medical-grade materials, each one exclusively designed for Wild Ass. Our cushions are manufactured in an FDA-approved wheelchair cushion factory and built using technology proven in the medical field.

Every part of a Wild Ass cushion is carefully designed and shaped by a motorcycle rider. The strategic placement of air cells ensures the cushion conforms to your body, while larger cut-outs reduce pressure where other cushions fall short. Plus, we’re completely transparent about what each of our cushion lines is made of!

Lite Line: Made of durable polyurethane for reliable comfort.

Air Gel Line: Truly one-of-a-kind, combining air and gel to create a unique feel that’s unmatched by anything else on the

Ken
Very pleased with the quality, durability and comfort
I saw your product two years ago at the Long Beach, CA motorcycle show. After talking with who I believe is the owner, I ordered the product online. I have had two years with the product and am very pleased with the quality, durability and comfort.

I used Wild Ass Motorcycle Air Cushion and had no problems
I just did a 3000-mile trip last week with two legs of 1100 miles each. I used Wild Ass Motorcycle Air Cushion and had no problems with my trip.

I will vouch for the comments
I will vouch for the comments (we have two of them). The seat on our F800GS is narrow and hard - not at all conducive to lengthy rides. Yes, a $500-$800 custom seat could address that, but I think the @therealwildass did as good or better. Better because the air flow keeps you cooler. We met and bought ours at the BMW National in Des Moines 2 years ago and haven’t ridden a day without them since.

A real butt-saver!
I had previously purchased an AirHawk pad, but ended up losing it before I could really use it much. The problem was the way the AirHawk pad connected to the seat was not very secure. The Wild Ass mounting system mounts much more securely to the bike. I have no worries about it disappearing. And it has a cooler name.
