Whitfield County School intends to apply for Educational Flexibility (Ed-Flex) for the 2025-2026 school year to waive the content area minimum percentage requirements in Title IV, Part A (Student Support & Academic Enrichment Grant). Public notice is required when systems intend to apply for the Ed-Flex waiver. Feedback and questions regarding this potential waiver are welcome. Phoenix High School has been named the 2025 Spotlight School of the Year by the Georgia Association for Alternative Education (GAAE), recognizing the school as a leading example of excellence in alternative education across the state of Georgia.

Whitfield County Schools Superintendent Dr. Mike Ewton has been selected as one of 20 school leaders from across Georgia to join the inaugural Georgia Superintendents’ Workforce Leadership Academy, a collaboration between the University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government and Georgia Power.
