Charging site hosts operating public or private EV charging stations may be eligible to generate clean fuel credits under programs like California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS), Oregon’s Clean Fuels Program (CFP), and Washington’s Clean Fuel Standard (CFS), British Columbia's LCFS (BC-LCFS) and the Canadian Clean Fuel Regulation (CFR) nationally. These programs are designed to reduce the carbon intensity of transportation fuels by rewarding the use of electricity as a clean alternative to gasoline or diesel. When an EV is charged at an eligible station, the site host can generate credits based on the amount of electricity dispensed and the carbon intensity of the grid or renewable energy used.
