Accessibility (ADA)

Under the Big Sky is committed to providing reasonable access and accommodations for guests with disabilities, consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), applicable state law and the practical limitations of hosting a large outdoor event on a working ranch. The festival takes place on natural terrain: primarily dirt, grass, gravel, and uneven ground. While not all areas can be made fully accessible, we work to implement accommodations that are readily achievable and required by law.

If you have any accessibility-related questions or requests, please reach out to us at [email protected] as early as possible so we can evaluate and address your needs.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBILITY

The ranch includes natural, uneven surfaces that may be difficult to navigate for some guests with mobility disabilities. Conditions may vary depending on weather, including dust, mud, or soft ground. Limited paved routes connect key areas of the venue.

Guests are encouraged to use personal mobility devices suited for outdoor terrain. We do not provide wheelchair or scooter rentals.

A charging station for motorized mobility devices will be available at the ADA Kiosk. Please bring any necessary cords or adapters. We provide access to a 110-volt, 20-amp circuit as a reasonable accommodation, subject to availability.

ADA PARKING

There will be limited ADA parking for guests with disabilities onsite located within VIP parking. ADA parking requires a parking pass, and is available on a first come, first serve basis. You will need a verified handicap placard, permit, or license plate to enter this parking lot. The person to whom the handicap credential is issued must be present in the vehicle, as a driver or passenger. Please note these parking areas may be on dirt or gravel surfaces.

ACCESS CENTER

Please Note: You must stop here to get your ADA wristband credential.

All guests needing ADA accommodations must check in at the ADA Kiosk, located inside the venue near the VIP Lounge. At the kiosk you can:

  • Pick up your ADA wristband
  • Ask questions about accessibility services
  • Learn about accessible routes and viewing areas

Wristband Policies

  • ADA wristbands are valid for the entire weekend.
  • Do not remove your wristband during the event.
  • One companion wristband is available per ADA guest (exceptions apply for families with young children).
  • If you need to switch companions, please return the old wristband to the kiosk.

ACCESSIBLE VIEWING AREA

Accessible viewing areas will be available at both the Great Northern Stage and the Big Mountain Stage. These areas are designated for guests with disabilities and one companion. Please note:

  • Space is limited; companions may be asked to stand at the back if capacity is reached.
  • Spot saving is not permitted.
  • Smoking is not allowed.
  • These areas are located on ranch terrain, and may include sloped or uneven areas. Raised viewing platforms may not be feasible in all locations.

SERVICE ANIMALS

Service animals are permitted throughout the venue. However, this does not include emotional support animals, therapy animals, or companion animals. Pets are not allowed and will be turned away. Only legitimate service animals that are properly trained and under the proper care of their owners will be provided with the appropriate credentials and allowed within the event footprint.

The following guidelines must be followed:

  • All service animals must remain by the handler’s side at all times and must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered. If these devices interfere with the service animal’s work or if the handler’s disability prevents the use of these devices, the handler must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls.
  • Service animals must be housebroken and should use the service animal relief area.
  • Anyone bringing an animal will be responsible for and liable for any damage or injury caused by the animal.
  • All animals should have legally required vaccinations.
  • Please be aware that service animals must navigate natural ranch terrain, including dirt, grass, uneven surfaces, and livestock-adjacent environments.

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION REQUESTS

Guests may request:

  • ASL interpretation for any performance
  • Closed Captioning
  • Braille/Large Font Print
  • Guided Tours
  • Other forms of Effective Communication

Requests must be emailed to [email protected] at least 14 days before the event. We review each request on a case-by-case basis and will provide accommodations that are readily achievable given the environment and timing.

ADDITIONAL SERVICES

  • Concessions: All concessions are fully accessible and located throughout the venue. If assistance is required, please confer with an event staff member.  Not all structures can be fully modified due to site limitations, but we will make reasonable efforts to help.
  • First Aid: We have several First Aid locations throughout the venue, noted on the event maps and mobile app. Professional medical staff can help you with your medical needs at these locations.
  • Special Dietary Needs: The event will have food vendors that provide gluten-free dietary options. For those with special dietary needs beyond what will be offered at the event, please contact us at [email protected] for further assistance.

COMMENTS, QUESTIONS & SUGGESTIONS

We review all requests for reasonable modifications or auxiliary aids on an individualized basis, in accordance with ADA standards. Some modifications may not be feasible due to the natural conditions and operational constraints of a working ranch.

For any questions, suggestions, or accessibility-related needs, please reach out to us at [email protected].

We look forward to welcoming you to Under the Big Sky.
