Based in Tasmania, Australia, we have been serving both local and mail order clients since 1979. See us for professional service and advice on buying, selling or insuring coins, stamps, medals and collectables and accessories. We are distributors for the Royal Australian Mint and the Perth Mint.
We also offer a professional medal restoration service and framing of family Honour Boards, etc. We are approved medal mounters for the Australian Defence Force and Australian Federal Police and other services.
In April 2024 we celebrated 45 years in business! We would like to thank you for your support and friendship. We feel very privileged to have clients who have supported us, some for the full 45 years. It is a pleasure to help enthusiastic collectors to really enjoy their hobby. Raelene and Rodney Newell opened the business (originally known as The Stamp Place) in April 1979. They retired in 1999 and the reins were handed over to the next generation.
In 2012 the business name was altered to The Coin & Stamp Place and our logo changed to show coins, stamps and medals, to more accurately reflect how the business had grown since its establishment. We thank you again for your support. It has been a great pleasure serving you all through these years. We hope to continue this relationship in the forthcoming years.

Dear friends and valued customers,
After 26 incredible years, we wish to advise that we have sold our 46 year old coin, stamp and medal mounting business. It has truly been a privilege to connect with each of you over the years; whether it was helping you find a rare stamp or coin, sharing stories, or simply chatting about our hobbies. Your support, loyalty, and friendship have meant the world to us.
As we move into the next chapter of our lives (cycling, golfing, travel), we are thrilled to introduce the new owners of our business, Aaron and Caitlin Shaw. They are passionate collectors and experienced business owners who share our commitment to providing the highest level of service and quality. We are confident that under their stewardship, the store will continue to grow and thrive, offering you the same dedication and expertise you’ve come to expect.
Thank you all for being a part of our journey. We know that the business is in great hands, and we look forward to seeing the continued success of the shop, with Aaron and Caitlin at the helm.
