The STI Foundation
The British Association for Sexual Health and HIV's (BASHH) STI Foundation provides nationally recognised multidisciplinary training in the attitudes, skills, and knowledge required for the prevention and management of sexually transmitted infections. The STI Foundation (STIF) provides both a knowledge-based course and a workplace competency programme. See below for further information and details.
STIF Theory Course
BASHH's STI Foundation Theory Course is a knowledge-based course made up of 3 parts; Foundation Theory One, Foundation Theory Two and Foundation Theory Three. It aims to equip participants with the basic understanding required for the diagnosis and management of common sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and to know when and how to refer.
STIF Competency Qualifications
BASHH's STI Foundation competency programme provides nationally recognised workplace training qualifications. The qualifications assess the skills of healthcare professionals working in Sexual Health and start at foundation level, progressing onto enhanced level STIF Certificates (STIF Cert), and advanced level STIF diplomas (STIF Dip).
STIF University Credits
The School of Health Sciences of the University of Greenwich recognises STIF Certificate and STIF Diploma qualifications (e.g. Intermediate and Advanced Competencies) for accredited prior experience and learning (APEL) at levels six and seven. These credits can be used towards qualifications at BSc (Hons), PG Dip and MA levels, all of which can be studied remotely. The credits are not able to be transferred to other universities.
