ABOUT THE NEM3 SOLAR RATE PLAN - SOLAR + BATTERY

All new solar energy systems installed after April 15, 2023 fall under the NEM3 energy rate plan. Under NEM 3, any excess solar energy generation sent to the grid that is not stored and/or used onsite, earns only wholesale credit. PG&E sells your solar energy to your neighbor at full retail value, profiting from your solar energy investment. But there is a solution. It is to your advantage under NEM3 to install solar electric system PLUS battery storage and backup to maximize onsite energy consumption and storage, keeping more savings in your pocket. Let Solarponics design a system that saves YOU money, not PG&E.

How do I still get the 30% tax credit?

The federal solar tax credit expired on DEc. 31, 2025 for residential solar projects. HOWEEVER, finance companies are allowed to bundle projects and get the 305 tax credit thru June, 2026. These savings can be passed on to you, the homeowner, if you go solar with our PP (Power Purchase Plan). A Power Purchase Plan is program where you buy the power, not the panels, and only pay for the energy that you use.

A third party pays for the system, takes the tax credit, then sells the power back to you at a lower cost than your utility. Everyone saves. And tyou get solar with ZERO money out of pocket. This is NOT A LEASE. It is way better.

Plant-A-Tree Effort – 100,000 lb CO2 sequesteded since 2022

For every system we install, Solarponics is planting a tree on our customers’ behalf. Previously we worked thru Arbor Day Foundation for this effort. Currently we work with One Tree Planted.org. Our original goal was to plant 1,000 trees. When we say “plant”, we mean we donate the funds to cover the cost to plant one tree. One Tree Planted does the actual planting. We reached our 1,000 tree goal on Nov 18, 2022. Our new goal is to plant 10,000 trees by the end of 2030.

Solarponics is committed to addressing environmental issues facing us through the installation of sustainable energy products, including solar PV, wind energy, water heating, and energy storage. Our vision? For every building and residence on the Central Coast to have a net-zero energy resource and consumption footprint.

One Tree Planted is committed to addressing issues such as climate, wildlife habitat, CO2 sequestration… through trees. One Tree Planted has planted  over 135.5 million trees with 378 partners across 82 countries in North America, Latin America, Africa, Asia, Europe and the Pacific.
