How to Use PDF Protector
Follow these steps to secure PDF files with password protection and restrictions on Windows.
Before you start
Download and install Softaken PDF Protector on your Windows PC. The software has a simple interface to browse PDF files and apply security settings.

Launch the Software
- Click the Start icon and find the software by name, or
- Double-click the Softaken PDF Protector icon on the Desktop.

Select PDF & Open Security
Softaken PDF Protector has a very simple user interface. After launching, you will see the main screen as shown below:
- Click Browse PDF files to select the PDF file.
- Click Secure PDF Now. Another window opens with security options.

Set PDF Security
The security window contains four checkboxes — set them as needed:
- Restrict user to print PDF
- Restrict user to copy text and graphics
- Restrict user to add annotations
- Restrict user to edit the PDF
Users can set all the above options by their choice.

Generate Protected PDF
- Enter password in the given option (to set password on PDF).
- Click Browse output location.
- Click Generate PDF.
Security options
- Print — block printing of the protected PDF.
- Copy — prevent copying text and graphics.
- Annotations — restrict adding comments or markup.
- Edit — disable editing of PDF content.
Summary
Browse PDF → Secure PDF Now → choose restrictions → set password → browse output → click Generate PDF. Download the free demo to try before purchasing.
