A day to celebrate our partners

May 1, 2026

There are days at the club that remind you what it is all about. This was one of them.

We were incredibly proud to cater for and service a fantastic Partners’ Lunch, last Saturday,  ahead of the 1st XV fixture v Barnes, welcoming 300 guests into a stunning marquee on the top pitch, expertly supplied by Maypole Marquees.

From the moment guests arrived, there was a real sense of occasion. The room was full of familiar faces, new connections, and a shared pride in being part of something bigger than just a matchday.

Our team at SCRUM Kitchen prepared and served a three course meal designed to bring people together. Simple, well cooked food, made with care, and delivered at scale without losing that personal touch. It set the tone for an afternoon that flowed effortlessly from one moment to the next.

The marquee bar was in full swing throughout, with wine and beer keeping glasses topped up as conversations and laughter carried across the room. Then came the entertainment, with the Secret Singers lifting the atmosphere and getting the whole marquee on its feet in a moment that will live long in the memory.

A lively auction followed, and once again the generosity of our partners and guests shone through. The support shown in that room spoke volumes about the strength of the community around the club.

As the season begins to draw to a close, this was far more than just a lunch. It was a chance to say thank you. To recognise the people and businesses who back the club week in, week out, and who play such an important role in everything we do.

From all of us at SCRUM Kitchen, it was a privilege to be part of it.

No time to stand still though. We go again this weekend with another big home game pre match lunch to prepare, alongside a full clubhouse of supporters to look after on Saturday. Then on Sunday, the club hosts the Kent Finals, with plenty of hungry mouths to feed and a busy bar ready to keep everyone refreshed across what promises to be another fantastic couple of days at the club.

Bat & Trap is Back at The Marine Travel Ground

March 2, 2026

Clear your diary. Rally your mates. Polish your competitive spirit.

The annual Bat & Trap Tournament is coming to The Marine Travel Ground on Saturday 18 July from 12pm, hosted by Verum Financial LLP in support of Kent Neuro Therapy Centre and Canterbury Rugby Football Club.

This year’s event is proudly sponsored by Burgess Hodgson, whose generous backing is helping us deliver what promises to be a brilliant afternoon of sport, sunshine and sociable competition.

What on earth is Bat & Trap?

It is one of Kent’s finest traditional games. Think village green energy, plenty of laughter, and just enough skill to keep things interesting.

There is:

  • No running at all
  • No experience required
  • Absolutely no excuse not to get involved

The rules have been lightly tweaked this year to keep things flowing and make sure we wrap up at a sensible time. That said, a steady hand and sharp eye will still go a long way.

If you are curious, take a look here:
https://www.batandtrapleague-canterbury.uk

Fair warning. Performance levels may fluctuate depending on how frequently you visit the bar.

Food, drink and summer atmosphere

The Clubhouse Bar will be open throughout, the BBQ will be fired up, and there will be a raffle on the day, all adding to the festival feel.

This is one of those days where competition meets community. Teammates become rivals for an afternoon, and rivals become friends again by the time the final burger is served.

Glory awaits

There will be trophies for the winners and runners up. They can be proudly displayed for a year before being kindly returned ahead of next summer’s showdown.

Casino Royale at the Clubhouse – A Surprise Player Party to Remember

February 23, 2026

On Friday 20th February, the Marine Travel Ground clubhouse was transformed for a very special occasion as we hosted a surprise player party with a full casino theme.

From the moment guests arrived, it was clear this was no ordinary celebration. The clubhouse was dressed to impress, complete with roulette and gaming tables, black and gold décor, and all the atmosphere of a true casino night. Long dining tables were laid in style, creating the perfect setting for teammates and friends to come together and celebrate.

SCRUM Kitchen were proud to cater the event, keeping guests well fed and the evening flowing seamlessly. As always, our focus was simple: quality food, smooth service and a memorable experience from start to finish. The result was a night packed with laughter, celebration and plenty of winning moments.

The feedback says it all:

“Thank you for last night. The lads had an amazing time, and were really stoked and loved it. We were very impressed with everything that you were able to provide.”

That is exactly what we aim for. Creating a space where people can come together, celebrate properly and leave with brilliant memories.

Whether it is a surprise party, a milestone celebration, a themed event or a team dinner, SCRUM Kitchen can help bring your vision to life. From transforming the clubhouse to tailoring the catering, we work with you to make it special.
