ROM Hacks - ARC
The legendary Scotland course from the Neo Geo CD version of Neo Turf Masters is finally playable on the AES/MVS.
Neo Turf Masters is the finest arcade-style golf game ever made. Released by Nazca in early 1996 for the Neo Geo MVS (arcade) and AES (home console), it features four distinct 18-hole golf courses: Germany, Japan, USA, and Australia. In May of 1996 Nazca released an expanded version of the game exclusively for the Neo Geo CD console that featured a very challenging, very difficult to unlock fifth course: Scotland. Unfortunately, the Neo Geo CD was plagued by miserably long load times, and today the console and its games are extremely expensive and difficult to find.
This new hack takes the original MVS/AES ROM set and replaces the old Australia course with the Scotland course from the Neo Geo CD version of the game. Now anyone who can play MVS/AES games can play Neo Turf Masters’ most challenging course, and without burdensome load times. Enjoy!

Welcome to the world of Pokémon Quartz Minus!
Quartz Minus is a project that revamps the sprite art and gameplay of BARO’s romhack classic: Pokémon Quartz. It is a “best as could be done” offshoot of the former Quartz DX project. Using some of its assets, adding some new content, and fixing many bugs from the original game.
Think of it as an “upper version” of the original Pokémon Quartz.
Pokémon Quartz, released in 2006, represented the limit of what Pokémon romhacking was capable of at the time. It was one of the first hacks to feature a full dex of fakemon and a total overhaul of the region and events.
Quartz Minus features new sprites for all 386 of Quartz’s fakemon, a rebalancing all of the fakemon stats and movesets, a rebalancing and national dex-izing of the game’s trainers and encounter tables, freshened up overworld tilesets from Emerald, and a few bonus events as well. As much of the original game’s script, typos and spanglish in all, has been retained.
BARO (also known as Teh Baro, Baro Boar); has long since moved on from the scene of Pokémon rom hacking. He has previously given the Quartz DX/Minus project his personal blessing, and is now pursuing a successful career in professional game development.
We hope you enjoy Quartz Minus! Ja! Ja!

A new hack of Castlevania 1 have been released, where EVERYTHING has been edited, from the major things to the minor things, including things that aren’t often edited, like subweapons and enemies.
Expect something fresh and different, and a different feeling from the leftovers scattered around to complement the experience.
New strategies are required as the fun aspects of a good classicvania are maintained, including a Hard Mode patch for the braver vampire killers.
A full list of details of the changes can be found on the hack’s entry.
Have fun!

Beta 0.0.8 is out.
PPUX is an open-source NES graphics editor for Linux, macOS, and Windows.
Built around editing ROM graphics in a game-aware workflow.
The long-term goal is a growing built-in game database, so supported ROMs can load with tile layouts, sprite animations, palettes, and other useful context already in place.

ROM Hacks - NES
This band new hack for NES Tetris implements the “7-Bag” Random Generator, which means even piece distribution. No more S, S, Z, S, S, Z, L, Z - just sets of 7 unique randomly ordered Tetrominos. For the more “modern” players, this is the random generation which is used by modern tetris games, per the “Tetris Guidelines”
Note that this does not obliterate the game’s challenge. Indeed, it’s still Tetris, and it becomes a challenge of how fast you can go, and how quickly you can clear lines – not how lucky you can be.

ROM Hacks - NES
Well, it’s been over 5 years since the release of Dragon Quest III: Delocalized. At times, the authors were not sure if this project would ever reach completion, but they are delighted that it finally has.
With Dragon Quest IV: Delocalized, the Translation Quest team has provided a brand new, meticulously crafted English translation of Dragon Quest IV. It is based on thought-for-thought equivalency, rather than a one-to-one literal rendering of the Japanese. Every effort was made to produce natural, tonally appropriate English. This translation does not indulge in the kinds of needless liberties to be found in the official localizations. The aim is to provide an accurate equivalent of what the Japanese audience experienced.
Several additional tweaks were introduced that address bugs and design flaws, with the goal of delivering the most polished and complete version of the game available. These include but are not limited to:
- Fixed HP growth for Minea (Nara)
- Consistent punctuation handling in text engine
- Appropriate party access in dungeons
- Sensible Stray Metal Armor (Metal Babble Armor) cost
- Winged Zenithians
- Manual Tactics - credit to karmic
- Seamonsters Fix - credit to Jegriva
- Graphical Uncensoring - credit to MetHy
Feedback on any issues is welcome on the project thread at https://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php?topic=26951.0. It is our sincerest hope that the players of Dragon Quest IV: Delocalized experience as much fun and satisfaction in playing this as the Translation Quest team experienced in making it.
