Description:
Beta 0.1.0
PPUX is a desktop NES graphics editor to work directly with ROM art data and custom project layouts. Open source, multi-platform (Linux, macOS and Windows).
The main idea here is to have a growing database of ROMS/games within the app so if a user drags and drops any ROM that is already registered, PPUX will automatically load tile layouts, sprite animations, color palettes and many other relevant pieces, so everything is automatically ready to be edited in game-aware context.
PPUX supports:
- CHR Banks and ROM Banks source windows (load only CHR data or the whole ROM, respectively)
- Static Art and Animation windows for tiles and sprites
- Global palettes and ROM-backed palette editing
- OAM animation windows that are closely tied to ROM data
- PPU frame windows for ROM-backed screen data
- Editable Lua project files for user projects (also useful to create DB Pull Requests)
- Compressed *.ppux project files too
The app is still in beta, things are still a WIP (especially the game DB) or not yet implemented. That said, it is already usable and a powerful tool for graphics NES ROM hacks. Download link will take you to the GitHub page, to choose the right package for your OS.
