Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 16, 2026

Pluginventory ("we," "our," or "us") operates the pluginventory.com website and the Pluginventory platform (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.

We take your privacy seriously — especially because our Service connects to your WordPress sites and those of your clients.

1. What We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create a Pluginventory account, we collect:

  • Your name and email address
  • Your billing information (processed securely by our payment provider — we do not store credit card numbers)
  • Your company or agency name (optional)

1.2 Site and Plugin Data

When you install the Pluginventory connector plugin on a WordPress site, that plugin transmits the following information to our platform:

  • The site URL
  • A list of installed plugins, including plugin name, version number, active/inactive status, and update availability
  • The WordPress core version
  • The PHP version
  • Timestamps of plugin installations, updates, activations, deactivations, and removals

What we do NOT collect from your WordPress sites:

  • We do not collect any content from your sites (posts, pages, media, comments, or user-generated content)
  • We do not collect login credentials, passwords, API keys, or authentication tokens (beyond the Pluginventory connector token)
  • We do not collect personal data about your site visitors or your clients' customers
  • We do not collect database contents, file system contents, or server configuration details
  • We do not collect data from other plugins installed on the site (only the names and metadata of those plugins, not their stored data)

Pluginventory is read-only. Our connector plugin reports plugin metadata to your dashboard. It cannot install plugins, modify files, change settings, run updates, or alter your WordPress sites in any way.

1.3 Usage Data

When you use the Pluginventory platform (our website and dashboard), we collect standard usage data:

  • Browser type and version
  • Pages visited within our platform
  • Time and date of access
  • Referring URL
  • IP address (used for security and general geographic analytics, not shared with third parties)

1.4 Cookies

We use cookies for:

  • Authentication: Keeping you logged into your account
  • Preferences: Remembering your dashboard settings
  • Analytics: Understanding how the platform is used so we can improve it (we use privacy-respecting analytics)

We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking. See our Cookie Policy for details.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the Pluginventory Service
  • Display plugin data across your connected sites in your dashboard
  • Send you important service communications (security alerts, product updates, billing notices)
  • Improve and develop new features
  • Respond to your support requests
  • Detect and prevent fraud or abuse

We do not:

  • Sell your information to third parties
  • Use your site or plugin data for advertising
  • Share individual site or plugin data with other Pluginventory customers
  • Aggregate and sell anonymized plugin usage data without explicit consent

3. How We Share Your Information

We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

Service providers: We use third-party services to operate Pluginventory (e.g., hosting, payment processing, email delivery, analytics). These providers only access your data as necessary to perform their services and are contractually obligated to protect it.

Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.

Business transfers: If Pluginventory is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

With your consent: We may share information in other ways if you specifically ask us to or give us permission.

4. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) for all data transmitted between your WordPress sites, your browser, and our servers
  • Encryption at rest for stored data
  • Access controls limiting who within our organization can access customer data
  • Regular security assessments

While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and site data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your account:

  • We will delete your site and plugin data within 30 days of account cancellation
  • We may retain billing records as required by tax and accounting regulations
  • Anonymized, aggregated data that cannot be linked back to you or your sites may be retained indefinitely for analytics purposes

You can request data deletion at any time by contacting us at [email protected].

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Access: You can request a copy of the data we hold about you.

Correction: You can ask us to correct inaccurate information.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

6.1 For Canadian Residents

We comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation. You have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of your personal information. You may also withdraw consent for non-essential processing at any time.

6.2 For European Economic Area (EEA) and UK Residents

We process your data under the following legal bases:

  • Contract: Processing necessary to provide the Service you have signed up for

You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

6.3 For California Residents

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request its deletion, and opt out of its sale. We do not sell personal information.

7. International Data Transfers

Pluginventory is operated from Canada. Your data may be processed in Canada and the United States by our infrastructure providers. Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, we rely on appropriate safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses as approved by the European Commission.

By using the Service, you acknowledge that your data may be processed in jurisdictions with different data protection standards than your own.

8. Data Processing on Behalf of Our Customers

When you connect your clients' WordPress sites to Pluginventory, you may be acting as a data controller for information related to those sites. In this capacity:

  • You are responsible for ensuring you have the appropriate authorization to connect those sites and transmit plugin metadata to Pluginventory
  • We act as a data processor on your behalf, processing the data only as necessary to provide the Service
  • We offer a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) for customers who require one. Contact us at [email protected] to request a signed DPA.

9. Children's Privacy

Pluginventory is a business tool designed for WordPress professionals. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 16. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 16, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

10. Third-Party Links

Our website or platform may contain links to third-party websites (such as WordPress.org, plugin developer sites, or hosting providers). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a prominent notice on our website. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
