Our Grooming Process

Shampoo
The first step in the grooming process is cleaning the pet’s coat. We use a paraben-free, toxic-free, biodegradable, and cruelty-free shampoo that’s specially formulated for dogs. It’s gentle on their skin and coat, while effectively washing away dirt, oils, and odors. This shampoo is safe for pets and the environment, ensuring a clean, healthy start for the grooming process.

Conditioner
After shampooing, we apply a paraben-free, toxic-free, biodegradable, and cruelty-free conditioner. Like the shampoo, it’s designed for dogs to hydrate and soften the coat, making it shinier and more manageable. The conditioner helps moisturize the skin, preventing dryness and irritation. It’s especially helpful for pets with sensitive or dry skin, promoting overall skin health while keeping the coat smooth and easy to brush.

Drying
Drying is an essential step, and we use professional-grade dryers that are high velocity and strong, but we take care to use them in the least stressful way for the pet. We carefully choose the dryer’s power level depending on the pet’s comfort and coat type. To minimize stress, we cover their ears with cotton and use a Happy Hoodie, which helps to calm them and reduces the noise from the dryers. The high-velocity dryers work quickly to dry the coat without excessive heat, ensuring the pet stays comfortable.

Anal Gland Expression
(If needed)
We check and express the anal glands if necessary. This helps prevent discomfort and potential health issues. We always do this with care to ensure the pet’s comfort.

Ear Cleaning
We gently clean the pet’s ears to remove dirt, wax, and debris that can lead to infections or discomfort. Ear cleaning is done if needed, especially for breeds prone to ear issues. We take extra care to avoid irritating the sensitive ear canal.

Ear Hair Removal
(If needed)
For pets with excess hair in their ears, we may carefully remove ear hair. This is particularly important for breeds that have a lot of hair growth in the ear canal, as it can block airflow and contribute to ear infections. We do this gently and only if necessary, ensuring the pet’s comfort.

Nail Trim
Long nails can cause issues like discomfort and difficulty walking, as they can affect the pet’s posture. Regular nail trimming helps prevent these issues, keeping the pet comfortable and healthy.

Nail Grinding
After trimming, we use a grinder to smooth the edges of the nails, preventing any sharp tips that could cause injury. This gives the nails a polished finish and ensures they’re comfortable for the pet.

Brushing
Once the pet is dry, we brush the coat to remove tangles, mats, and loose fur. This step ensures that the coat stays healthy, smooth, and tangle-free. It also promotes healthy circulation and distributes natural oils throughout the coat.

Combing
We use a comb to check for any remaining tangles or mats, especially in sensitive areas like the underbelly or legs. It’s a more precise tool than a brush, ensuring that the coat is thoroughly groomed.

Haircut
The final step is trimming or cutting the pet’s coat according to the desired style or length. This will vary depending on the pet’s breed, coat type, age, lifestyle, and stress level. Each pet is unique, and we are more than happy to discuss the best cut options with the pet owner to ensure the grooming experience aligns with the pet’s needs and the owner’s preferences. This could be a full-body trim, a breed-specific cut, or just a tidy-up around the face, paws, and tail. It helps the pet look its best and stay comfortable.

Puppy Groom

We use Fear Free techniques and go at your puppy’s pace—we never force them. If they need breaks or a shorter session, we adjust accordingly. Whether your puppy gets a full groom or just a partial trim depends on how they’re handling the experience. We always prioritize their comfort and avoid overwhelming them in a new environment.
Our groomers will also guide you on what you can do at home to help your puppy get used to grooming, making future appointments stress-free.
