NPC is the national representative organisation recognised by the Department of Education and Youth for parents of children in schools in Ireland. We provide services for parents including a confidential helpline, nationwide training and a regularly updated website to support parents to support their children’s education.

NPC Members

Our members are Parents’ Associations in Primary and Post Primary schools throughout the country. Each member Parents’ Association nominates a NPC Delegate to be their main point of communication between NPC and the parents of children in their school.

The NPC membership year runs with the calendar year, from the 1st of January to the 31st of December each year.

How to become a member

If your Parents' Association would like to become a member of NPC or renew membership, you could:

  • Fill in the form online and pay using PayPal or via Electronic Funds Transfer click here or 
  • Download a membership form here, complete the form and return it to us by post with a cheque or postal order to cover the membership fee (based on the size of the school).
ETB (Education and Training Boards) school Parents' Associations
  • If you are a Parents' Association in an Education and Training Boards (ETB) school (including Community National Schools) and would like to renew or become a member online, please complete the form via this link 

  • If you are a Parents' Association in an Education and Training Boards (ETB) school (including Community National Schools) and would prefer to complete a hard copy of the form please download a membership form here

ETB membership fees will be paid centrally from your ETB, who may then be in touch with you directly regarding this payment.

Why join?

To support your child 

  • NPC provides a broad range of Training for parents nationwide including, among others: Parents' Association/Parental Engagement Training: Anti-bullying Training: Supporting your child’s mental health and wellbeing; Parenting: Supporting your child to build healthy friendships and relationships; Internet Safety training; Transition from Primary to Post Primary school and Transition from Preschool to Primary school.

To have your voice heard and be represented at national policy level 

  • NPC represents the parents’ voice on the Teaching Council, the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA), the National Council for Special Education (NCSE), the Primary Education Forum, and to the Department of Education and Youth and the Department of Children, Disability and Equality.
  • NPC also works on behalf of parents with organisations such as the Irish Primary Principals’ Network (IPPN), the Irish National Teachers’ Organisation (INTO) the School Management Bodies, the National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals (NAPD), ETBi, Oide and more.

NPC DELEGATE

Who is the NPC Delegate? 

The NPC Delegate is the parent from your Parents’ Association Committee who will be your link to National Parents Council. NPC will communicate all notices and information to the Delegate. Only the named delegate can vote, nominate directors, or act on the Parents' Association's behalf.

The Delegate details must be updated each year, via the NPC membership form (please see the links above), if you are no longer the Delegate and would like NPC to update the details during the membership year please complete the Change of Delegate Form

NPC will support Delegates with training and information.
