Hurricane is located in Washington County, right in the southwestern corner of Utah. We sit at an elevation around 3,250 feet, a bit higher and often slightly cooler than our neighbor St. George. The city's spot along Utah State Route 9 is pretty strategic, placing it perfectly between St. George (about a 25-30 minute drive west) and the main entrance to Zion National Park (about a 30-minute drive east). Need a bigger city fix? Las Vegas is roughly a two-hour drive south, and Salt Lake City is about four hours north.

Climate

We enjoy a four-season desert climate here. Summers are definitely hot and dry, with July highs averaging around 101°F according to climate data sources. But our winters are generally mild, with January highs near 54°F and lows dipping just below freezing to about 30°F. It can get windy, especially in winter, which lives up to the city's name origin!

We get lots of sunshine and not much precipitation, averaging about 16 inches annually based on historical data, mostly in late winter/early spring and during summer monsoon thunderstorms. Snow is pretty minimal, maybe 3.3 inches total over the winter months, and it rarely sticks around for long (if it snows at all).
