The Queen’s Court is Coming to SUPERBOOTH

via Shakmat:

"Superbooth is around the corner and I’m happy to finally unveil the prototype we’re going to show this year.

The Queen’s Court is a new kind of stereo matrix mixer, combining a fully analog signal path with deep digital control — and removing the need for external modulation. Designed for performance as much as for studio work, it brings hands-on control, internal modulation, and preset morphing into a single, cohesive instrument.

At its core, The Queen’s Court offers 4 stereo inputs (configurable as stereo or dual mono), 3 auxiliary stereo inputs, and 4 stereo outputs — all freely routable within a flexible matrix and it embeds modulation directly into the routing structure.

The Queen’s Court integrates 36 internal modulators directly into the matrix.

Per-input panning with LFO-based autopanning
Per-routing-point bipolar envelopes, triggerable via CV or extracted from audio signals
Integrated LFOs on each routing point, with sine and random waveforms, clock-syncable
This enables advanced behaviors such as internal sidechaining, dynamic routing, and animated spatial movement — without relying on external modules.

Designed with an open-ended philosophy, The Queen’s Court can function as:

a self-contained matrix mixer
a performance mixer
a feedback processor
a routing hub for audio and CV
Oh and the system can also be expanded with up to two expanders, increasing the total to:
8 stereo inputs
5 auxiliary stereo inputs
4 outputs
8 CV inputs"

ESP32-S3 PolySynth - Work in progress

video upload by Bad Dog Designs

"This is a fully functioning Polysynth using an ESP32-S3 to model the audio in real time, from an initial single Sine wavetable calculated on power up. The control panels for the oscillators and common controls all use CAN bus to communicate parameter changes to the audio engine - rather than wiring up a lot of IO, it just sends a message like 'Change oscillator 3 to Sawtooth'

Basic spec so far:

6 oscillators in 3 pairs that have Sine / Triangle / Saw / Pulse / Noise and Chaos waveforms. There are then independent wave folding modifiers and Sample and hold modifiers. Each oscillator pair can also be hard sync'd to it's partner for mono use, or FM modulated.

Common controls have ADRS envelope control, High / Low / Band pass filter with Envelope and tracking control. Ring modulator and Play mode selector for Unison / Duo / Poly. 2 re-triggerable LFO's with delay.

Currently working on the routing section that will allow pretty well anything to modulate anything else stored as separate routes - up to 12 routes can be applied at once. Then patch storage and recall, and hopefully some nice analogue FX at the end.

In the clip, all the audio is straight out the back of the DAC with no processing or FX."

Melbourne Instruments brings Braids engine to desktop NINA analogue polysynth

“NINA has always been an absolute powerhouse of a synth, but this update is insane; OSC 3 gives you 45 Braids macros across 12 voices, plus its massive mod matrix — the range of sounds and textures you can create now knows no bounds.”

- Musician/sound designer PROTOVOLT, 2026

MELBOURNE, VIC, AUSTRALIA: Melbourne Instruments is proud to bring Mutable Instruments’ Braids engine — Emilie Gillet’s celebrated open-source macro oscillator — to its desktop NINA analogue polysynth, as of April 30…

Available as a free firmware update, all 45 Braids synthesis models run across NINA’s 12 true polyphonic voices, each shaped by a dedicated overdrive-able analogue filter. Ultimately, users can now layer Braids and analogue VCOs (Voltage Controlled Oscillators) across four multitimbral parts, morph between presets, and sequence everything.

Duly described by Mutable Instruments as a macro oscillator, Braids was a mono Eurorack module: one voice, no internal filter, and no modulation routing. It is now something else entirely on NINA, itself described as the world’s first motorised polysynth. Put it this way: when switching layers, the motorised knobs snap to new positions; morph between patches and they sweep in real time. Meanwhile, modulation routings are all visible on the panel from the moment they are selected. Surely Braids has never been this hands-on.

Digging deeper, each waveform model is shaped by two expressive parameters — Timbre and Color — adapted from the original Braids module. More meaningfully, these controls affect multiple tonal dimensions simultaneously, producing complex, evolving, and musically responsive sounds. Spanning analogue VCO emulation, vowel and formant synthesis, 2-operator FM, physical modelling of strings and wind instruments, wavetable synthesis with smooth interpolation, granular synthesis, and electronic drum simulation, the 45 models evidently elevate NINA to a new level, further cementing itself as a premium analogue polysynth powerhouse for experimental, generative, analogue, and digital synthesis.

Says musician/sound designer James Terris, ending on a high note: “I’ve always described NINA as a beautiful beast — analogue oscillators paired with its super-fat and driven analogue filter make it beastly! But while the existing wavetable oscillator adds a crystal sheen that provides a beauty, the new macro oscillator models expand this tremendously. Indeed, it can go from delicate FM, Karplus-Strong, and even vocal formant textures straight into swarming, stacked super-waves. With this update, it feels like an instant NINA ‘MK-2’!”

Excluding taxes applicable to the territory concerned, NINA is presently priced at $3,299.00 USD in North America; €3,165.00 EUR in the EU; £2,835.00 GBP in the UK; and $3,499.00 USD in Japan, while it is presently priced in Australia at $4,995.00 AU, including GST (Goods and Services Tax) — all via Melbourne Instruments’ growing global network of dealers.

Cuckoo Introduces the SVENSSON 49 Looping Keyboard by AUXY

I gave the new SVENSSON 49 keyboard my sound signature! Dream collab with AUXY!
video upload by True Cuckoo

"Everything about the new SVENSSON 49 keyboard by AUXY, in this friendly Tutorial."

"Svensson 49 is a digital keyboard with expressive sounds, a playful looper, and a personality of its own.

No menus to dive through. No manual to read before you start. Just play, loop, and explore your musical ideas.

Svensson uses a mix of samples and wavetables to generate sounds that range from acoustic to synthetic, with a special focus on everything in between.

The sounds are designed by Cuckoo. We love how much care he puts into making his sounds feel colorful and expressive, and how naturally he blends synths with pianos and other acoustic instruments.

Loop and Layer
Svensson keeps track of the notes you play, so you don’t have to hit record before you start. If you like what you just played, hit Loop to capture it.

The four sound categories are also separate parts that can be looped individually. Loops can be as long as you want, and you can add as many layers as you want.

Build Quality
Svensson has a metal body with solid oak sides and is manufactured in Germany. It uses a Fatar keyboard with 49 semi-weighted, velocity-sensitive keys.

The built-in speaker is custom-made by Swedish speaker guru Ingvar Öhman. It's surprisingly loud and lets you play so other people can hear without additional gear. Perfect for living room jams.

Connections
Sustain pedal
Stereo line out
Headphones
USB-A for class-compliant audio and MIDI
USB-C for power and data

Availability
We're on the final stretch of getting Svensson ready for production. The price is not fully locked in, but expected to be around 899 EUR / 999 USD.

Preorders for the first limited batch will start soon. The first units will ship to customers in early fall 2026."

There's improvements made and more processing headroom with Iroi and it offers stereo multimode filter, 3 band resonator, 2 tape delay and ambience reverb and reverse FX. Lots of CV, on board modulation and randomisation."

Press release follows:

"BEFACO's NEW MODULE: IROI

The Oneiroi, in Greek mythology, were dark-winged spirits of the night who emerged to bring dreams and nightmares to mortals. Our ambient synthesizer, Oneiroi, takes its name from them, evoking that shifting, dreamlike realm of sound.

IROI is derived from 'Oneiroi' and carries that same essence forward, distilling it into something more compact and open to external signals, while preserving its cinematic feel that connects us to the world of dreams and the unknown.

What is IROI?

IROI is a stereo effects module based on the right half of the original Oneiroi. It applies Oneiroi’s sonic character to external sources in a more compact format, while incorporating subtle improvements developed throughout the Oneiroi project. Designed to shape, transform, and immerse sound, Iroi carries forward the dreamlike essence of its predecessor into a dedicated effects processor.

Audio Core: Powered by OWL mk3, featuring 24-bit 48 kHz stereo audio resolution (with 32-bit internal processing) and a full stereo signal path.

Filter: Multimode filter offering low-pass, band-pass, high-pass, and comb filtering, with flexible positioning within the effects chain.

Digital VCA.

Resonator: Three-band resonator with dedicated tune and feedback controls.

Delay: Two-tap echo (delay) with adjustable time and density.

Reverb: Comprehensive reverb effect with macro control over size, filtering, and direction.

Modulation: Various types of self-modulation, offering configurable routing and control over level and speed.

Control Voltage (CV): CV inputs for all primary parameters. Four of these inputs are dynamically assignable to secondary parameters.

Synchronization: External sync input supports clock speeds from 30 BPM to 300 BPM.

Randomization: Powerful randomizer with a flexible mapping system, including undo/redo functionality.

IROI is set to be released on April 30th, 2026 and the launching price will be 275€ (assembled version) and 210€ (DIY Kit).

Find us at Superbooth 2026, in BoothZ180 to see IROI live and take a peek at our upcoming products, we're pretty sure you'll love them."

Chase Bliss Introduces Big Time – Analog/Digital Delay

Giorgio Sancristoforo's Homework Now Available

You find demos in previous posts here.

Details via Giorgio Sancristoforo:

"Homework is an experimental modular standalone workstation.
A four tracks portastudio-like cassette recorder with granular, reverb, echo and saturation effects, plus two classic modular synthesizers of the 70s.

The synths integrate with the tape recorder and the effects, thanks to a generous number of patch points placed directly on the recorder panel. Homework is a powerful electronic experimental echo-system where fantasy is the only real limit and vintage warm sound is paramount!

THE EYE OF HORUS
is a modular synth carefully modelled after the west coast paradigm with some peculiar features like two Tropical Additive Synthesis Oscillators, a Hybrid Putney Filter, a Triple Variable State BP Filter, a Tropical Shaper, a Comparator and a double sequencer and clock.

Like the 1970s models which inspired it The Eye Of Horus is wild, organic and warm!

SONDA
is a modular synthesizer designed for drones, and inspired by the instrument popularized by the French composer and synthesist Eliane Radigue. Five multi-waveforms oscilaltors, two multi-mode variable state filters/resonators, two modulators/amplifiers, one LPF 24 dB filter, a 7 channel mixer and a special very slow triple low frequency oscillator.

Available for Mac OS (M processors suggested) at giorgiosancristoforo.net"
